How did he get his hands on the 2006 Democrat Platform?
Nice parody. It reeks of potent truth.
...a nice update of Swift's "A Modest Proposal"; I love it when someone absolutely hits the nail on the head like that! Thanks for the post...
Whoa
Whoa
Canada ping!
Please send me a FReepmail to get on or off this Canada ping list.
--one of the few subjects on which I agree with my former governor---
This is the guy that said "liberals and democrat's are your best neighbors but worst ancestors cause they will help you out but leave nothing for future generations.
I didn't know who this was and then I remembered him from his porno name--Dick Lamm.
Too close to the truth to be a satire that sits comfortably.
Since I am now work for the Federal government, I get an up close and personal view of our Government's approach to extolling the virtues of diversity. I don't have a problem with diverse people as individuals, but the system seems to hold it up as a virtue. It is an element in the panoply of multiculturalism. In my opinion, any student of history can see that cultures are not equal. Western Civilization about 4-5 centuries ago took off like a rocked compared to other civilizations in the world. It's emphasis on individual freedoms and discovery created most of the worlds truly free societies and countries. It is clearly the dominant culture in business and pattern of government. The countries that have adopted some versions of Western Culture as a part of their government, and truly those that are succeeding in creating a free society: S. Korea, Japan, India, Taiwan and to a lesser degree Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand. Economically, Western Civ created free enterprise in the more libertarian form and Socialism/Communism on the other hand. Unfortunately for some (China) the bad twin took charge for a while.
Currently kids are taught multiculturalism in our public schools, and not the strengths of our system. Instead they are taught that WC enslaved the rest of the world and did harm to the world. If we don't respect our own culture, how can others respect it. Countries like Mexico have a culture that is a mix of the indigenous and WC (Spanish), and is therefore more collectivist. Should Mexico's political and economic culture ever become rooted as a bi-culture to our current English-Western European culture, we will see more of the problems that Mexico has like corruption, graft and a decline in the rule of law. God Help Us.
Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and they all fall, and that "an autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide."The Scottish Jurist and Historian Sir Alex Fraser Tyler published a collection of lectures in 1801. He advanced a theory of democracy based on historical observation:
So here are two noted historians saying the same thing. I concur, do you?"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can exist only until voters discover that they can vote themselves largesses from the public treasury. From that time on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
"The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage."
Our Republic is 230 years old and, IMHO, it is high time to take ourselves down a notch or two or three.
I spent several weeks in Florida over the winter months and another 2 weeks
in California and I got news fer y'alls - that's already done!
The good news is that current birth and immigration rates will eventually
ensure that the U.S. will eventually be a unilingual country again..
Thanks, Bay. Didn't the communists say they would tke our country down without a shot being fired? Freedom of religion..going, freedom of speech...going, private property rights...going. Country - gone?
More evidence that most taxes are counterproductive at best, and destructive for the most part.
Take away as much of the ability of government to appropriate the public's money and you'll get rid of alot of problems. In fact, get rid of most of the federal government.
Education and a host of other issues should be local and preferably private enterprises.
The founding fathers were right about alot of things, and when "public servants" starting fiddling because they thought they knew best, they started mucking it up.
I sent this to my Congressman. No response....
I didn't bother sending it to my bonehead senators.
