You have a bad night for guard duty.

It is really too bad. She did a bang up job in the Presidential election and she seemed to have good motives for wanting to run for the House. Don't know what changed her between then and now but it sure seems something has.

I agree with you. Whenever some "rising star" of the Republican Party suddenly and mysteriously "retires from public service", I have to suspect there is some serious dirt out there. Joe Scarborough, John Kasich, Bill Paxson.... these were all up-and-comers and then ZOT!, they're gone, out of the blue.

Harris may have her problems, but I'm not going to blame this on her. Even if Katherine Harris didn't exist, Joe Scaraborough couldn't get into the Senate race because of his intern problem. I don't know what happened, but anyone who thinks the Democrats and the media wouldn't have gone after this is a fool. Scarborough had to leave Congress because of this. Democrats would not let him run without bringing this up.

Hey, I have the same debates with people over DeWine. For many reasons---which I specificially outlined, repeatedly, to DeWine's staff---I said if he voted for the amnesty for illegals, I would not support him in the primary or vote for him in the general. I just won't vote Senator.

This is not the case for any other Republican, meaning I support any other Republican regardless because of our need to control the judges, Senate, etc. But this was a personal vow I made. No, I'm not "somebody," but people who know me in Ohio have to know that I will keep my word, both in their favor and when it runs against them.

So I support Harris. Personally, I think she's toast, but if she wins the primary, which I think she will, then SHE'S THE CANDIDATE, and she would earn my support. No, I don't think she'll win.

The New York Times Company indeed owns the Sarasota Herald Tribune in their Regional Media Group, now matter what you think of the FReepers who post this information. Try getting your own facts straight, Bucky. It might make you look bigger when you dance on Katherine Harris' grave.

I understand where you're coming from. Personally, I'd rather see someone else win the primary, however unlikely that may be. As you mentioned, I highly doubt she can win the general regardless...

My concern is that she's become a liability to the party as a whole. It seems that every day another wackier story is posted, and I suspect the Dems will divert funding to other races since this one is in the bag. If she runs and loses, fine. I just hope Harris will avoid doing anything to embarrass the party...

Bill Nelson was an astronaut. He's not an airhead.

That could happen. On the other hand, there is the Ann Coulter effect, where a "whacky" candidate absorbs all the arrows and lets other people (who might have some baggage) slip by.

Good point. Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime, I suspect it'll be entertaining, if nothing else...

I thought she'd be a stronger candidate, but it again shows that in Nevada, Wisconsin, Arkansas, and now Florida, we have shot ourselves in the foot by not getting the strongest people possible to run. It was conceivable that we could have won all four of those races, and gotten very close to the magic 70 filibuster-proof number. Of course, all that does is to more heavily leverage the idiot "moderates" who then would have the power to deny that filibuster-breaking vote. So ultimately we need about 70 GOP solid votes and a couple of reliable Dems to ensure that anything we want gets passed.

Bill Nelson was an astronaut in the same sense that the monkeys shot into orbit were astronauts.

They went for a ride.

Bill went along as the token congressman on a six day mission back in 1986.

Technically, the ride made him an astronaut and he's still an air-head (I guess you've never listened to him much).

These stories about Katherine Harris are kinda weird though doncha think? Sounds to me like she's sinking her own ship.

You can't be an astronaut for NASA and be an airhead.

He never worked for NASA. He went along as guest from Congress.

He's not just an air-head. He is a full-blown liberal air-head.

Listen real close next time you hear him on TV. Even Nancy Pelosi makes more sense than Bill Nelson.

I stand corrected on the NASA issue. But he was a Capt in the US Air Force.

What a friggin' mess. Why doesn't the GOP in Florida just concede and give the seat to that twit Nelson and be done with it. Isn't there a Pubbie in Florida who is capable of being a U.S. Senator and who doesn't have a closet full of skeletons, who can run?

Holy cow. I guess not. I'm so sick of this Katherine Harris mess. Excuse me while I go empty my barf bucket.
