Goebbels, call your office

In an obscene attempt to obtain political mileage, the Democrats are claiming that President Bush is responsible for the outbreak of war in the Middle East. Howard Dean claims that the war would not have occurred if the Democrats had been in power because the Dems would have worked the past six years to prevent it. And Sen. Dodd has made basically the same assertion. Meanwhile, Rep. Jane Harmon contends that the Bush administration is to blame for our poor to non-existent relations with Syria and Iran which, she says, prevent us from using diplomacy to end the crisis.

Once again, the Democrats are taking partisan politics to a previously unknown low. No past opposition party has attempted to blame the outbreak of an Arab-Israeli war on the party in power. Unless I'm mistaken, the Repubicans didn't blame President Johnson for the war in 1967; the Dems didn't blame President Nixon for the war in 1973; nor did they blame President Reagan for the hostilities in Lebanon that occurred on his watch. Moreover, it is especially reprehensible for the Dems to be taking such a low road now, when unlike before, the U.S. is in the middle of essentially the same war as Israel -- the war on terrorism.

The Harmon claim, that we could solve this crisis if only we had relations with Syria and Iran, is so naive as to require little discussion. Syria and Iran don't act criminally because we lack good relations with them; we lack good relations with them because they act criminally. The Democrats' belief that they could somehow talk Syria and Iran out of acting like extremist Islamic states bent on destroying Israel should alone disqualify the party from controlling, or even influencing, U.S. foreign policy.

The Dean-Dodd claim that the Democrats, through their tireless efforts, would have prevented this war ignores the fact that the efforts that the Dems have (and would have) engaged in are not reasonably calculated to prevent war in the Middle East. Under President Clinton, the Dems attempted to push Israel into making territorial concessions. Indeed, the concession that led to Hezbollah's ability to strike deep into Israeli terrority with missiles and that emboldened Hezbollah to start a war with Israel(Israel's pull-out from Lebanon) occurred during the Clinton administration. This doesn't mean that the Democrats are to blame for the war. First, Israel had the option of not making territorial concessions. Second, the Bush administration too has encouraged Israel to "take risks for peace" -- our policy towards Israel contains bi-partisan flaws. Third, the blame in any case resides with Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran, not the U.S. But the fact remains that Clinton's policies for preventing war were profoundly misguided in ways that are material to the current crisis. Under these circumstances, it is disgraceful for the Dems to blame the war on President Bush.

Remember, though, this is the party that brokered the deal that enabled North Korea to obtain nuclear weapons, yet now blames that regime's nuclear status on President Bush. In terms of the style of its propaganda, this is a party in which Joseph Goebbels would feel at home.

Obscene and down right nauseating that any American would suggest that President Bush is even slightly responsible for the terrorist acts towards Israel, shows the utter lack of responsibility if not the morality of the Democratic Party and their leaders.

We'd never see those sentences in the NYT.

As the DemonRats are obscene and nauseating by nature, their comments are in character for them. It is actually helpful when they say such things, as it is instructive as to how they might govern if given the opportunity.

No 'real' surprise. If their dog were to poop on the living room floor it would be Bush's fault.

OTOH. They don't have anything better to do BUT blame Bush in the middle of all this?

Yep, no real surprise.

I watch and listen--every time a democrat is interviewed on a "news" progfram they take the opportunity to bash the administration. It is true they assume the American public is dumb as a rock. It seems they might be right about that--at least 43& of the voting public must be.

Once again the Democrat party gives the Terrorists a free meal ticket as they attempt to pin blame on President Bush rather than where the blame actually belongs and that is with the Terrorist murderers.

They will fail however because in so doing they further expose themselves as being completely ignorant of the real Terrorist threat that we face, and thus will lose votes on election day from people who politically are in the middle and are more honestly concerned about the security of the nation rather than the obvious Democrat bogus blame game of attacking President Bush for everything under the sun.

Let the Democrats keep speaking and continue with this bogus line of attack because it is senseless. For them to be making any kind of sense at all one would have to consider that the Terrorists can actually be reasoned with, but the reality that we see everyday is the complete opposite, you can't reason and negotiate with Terrorists because it will never be enough, they will see weakness and always demand more each time increasing the ante.

The common centrist voter knows that, and so the Democrats are only making a caricature of themselves in the minds of the voters as a demented midget retard dripping snot and drool as he sits in the dark corner of the room in his own excrement cross eyed and rapidly drumming his finger across his lips while making strange noises.

Surprised Clinton's former Secretary of State Madeline (not so bright) Albright's name wasn't mentioned ... she's been preaching this sermon to anyone who will listen since the current hostilities began.

And, this is a surprise to whom?? Just more from the DNC playbook . . . . . . . . and more reasons why they will have their hats handed to them . . . . AGAIN, in November. This dead horse hasn't yielded them any victories and they should stop kicking it.

As usual the Democrats do the bidding of the terrorists .Tell me one thing the Democrats would say different if they were representing The terrorists ,not one word would be different. They are clearly traitors and the fact that all these polls showing them taking back control of congress just proves what I have been saying for some time ,Most Americans today are MORONS

I'd say Bush is indirectly involved. There's success in Afghanistan and Iraq (not that you'd know it from the dinosaur media), and the terrorists are running scared. They need to push for control of what's left of their previously unattended bases. I'd say success on our part would bring on increased terrorism no matter who's in charge, but you can bet that if the Rats had a hand in it, there would be no successes!

He thinks in a dream world. Democrat Carter got us Hell-bent Iran and Democrat Clinton looked the other way while al Qaeda was gathering steam and aiming it at us.

Actually, I think the disloyal Demonrats and their MSM propaganda machine triggered this war, by convincing the Iranians, Syrians, and their puppets that a large segment of the American public was in favor of appeasement, as the Euros are.
I even wonder whether the terror powers deliberately provoked the conflict before the midtern U.S. elections, knowing that after the elections Bush would have a freer hand and be less handicapped by our home-front fifth column.
