PHILADELPHIA --Several Vietnam War veterans who sued over a documentary about Sen. John Kerry's anti-war activities have dropped their libel suits, leaving just one lawsuit pending over the controversial 2004 film. Filmmaker Carlton Sherwood says the outcome shows the suits were frivolous complaints filed by Kerry operatives to try to block the film's release in the final weeks of the presidential race. "We've always believed that Kerry controlled these lawsuits," Sherwood said Monday. He said the suits were dropped as depositions got under way. "We also felt we were getting a tad too close to the truth about Kerry."

So basically it was just to get a headline-pure BS lawsuit to discredit the film.

Expect a similar headline soon about Clowny Boy and Trashy Girl Wilson's lawsuit against Cheney and Rove. That joke will be dispensed with even quicker than the Kerry shill lawsuit.

Sherwood continues to press his defamation suit against Kerry and campaign aide John Podesta. The lawsuit charges they conspired to block the film's release by labeling him a "disgraced journalist" and "Bush hack." The Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. canceled plans to air the full documentary on its stations before the November 2004 election.
The Kerry people got what they wanted, spiking of the film at least partially. So now they would like the whole thing to just quietly go away, and they argue that politics ain't beanbag and Sherwood should just go away and let them get away with abusing the legal system for partisan purposes. After all, all they did was subvert his constitutional First Amendment rights during an election . . .

You mean "ol' Yellow Cake" & wife "blonde in a bottle" Wilson-Plame may not have a solid case?

I'm surprised the Globe even ran the AP story.

The Wilsons got an unfavorable draw in the assignment of the judge for their case. So you are probably right.

Wow. It's a schematic diagram of the Rove Weather Machine.

Who would have thought that the Swift Boat Veterans might have attracted conservative supporters? Why aren't they all Democrats? What a mystery.

People (meaning liberals) seem to have lost sight of the fact that there is a thing called "truth". Forged memos are not part of it. Perjured testimony to a Grand Jury is not part of it. Self-inflicted scratches to support Purple Heart Medals are not part of it. Lies about innocent members of the military torturing people are not part of it. Lies regarding Saddam's attempts to acquire uranium from Niger are not part of it.

btw just flipping thru channels and noticed John Kerry was on C-SPAN talking about stem cell research. His hair has gone completely white...is this new? Methinks he's stopped using Grecian Formula and wants to look more...distinguished.

So far... I've only seen this AP story posted in the Globe... and on Forbes. That's it.
