The key thing is not the President, but the Congress - that's where the legislation originates and if voters get behind this grassroots movement as they've been doing (over 700,000 or more at present) the FairTax will be the tax law of the land.

Write and call all 3 of your congressmen and keep doing so merely asking to support and cosponsor either HR25 or S25. It's very much do-able.

Why refer to your own statement as "vomit" (though it certainly is)???

Actually those numbers are about in line with numbers from other areas when the people actually find out about the FairTax and how much it would help all of us.

No surprise at all.

Just don't forget that prohibition was a "grass roots movement" that became a constitutional amendment... we all know how that one worked out in the end.

It's up to the people of the country (voters) to act and force the pols to get rid of the income tax abomination..
------
True - and when that happens, let whatever generation exists at that time, know about it. The portion of our society that has to pay taxes still needs to wake up and realize thier power over their government. They totally forget that the government works for them (it used to anyway) and they can make or break that government at will. But they don't. Working half of thier lives for the government is acceptable socialism to them.

Until that changes, forget about it.

D) boortz is not news

It's bloggers and personal or chat on it's best day.

(Nealz Nuze is a blogger site)

???

Boortz, for all the times I disagree with on issues like gay marriage (he's pro), abortion (he's vehemently pro-abort), and flag-burning (he's anti-protection amendment), you have got to recognize that he's near the top in radio listeners nationally.

He DOES use his web site as his on-line radio program notes, but that pushes him far past "a blogger"

If you choose to defend the status quo of the current tax system that way it's your choice. Thanks again for making yourself clear.

Prohibition was a grassroots movement and so - a few years later - what the repeal of Prohibition. So, you see, it happened twice in quick succession on the same subject.

That means it's a very succesful way to do things.

A Taxreform ping for you all.

The FairTax was on the primary ballots in three Georgia counties yesterday.

Ahh, for once a report of real voters doing what the do best. Actually vote for something or someone.

If anyone would like to be added to this ping list let me know.

John Linder in the House(HR25) & Saxby Chambliss Senate(S25) offer a comprehensive bill to kill all federal income, SS/Medicare payroll, and gift/estate taxes outright replacing them with with a national retail sales tax administered by the states.

H.R.25,S.25
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.

Refer for additional information:

In fact, what I believe you see happening before your very eyes is clear evidence of that sort of attitude changing dramatically with the FairTax grassroots movement.

Stay alert, it's going to become our tax law.

The portion of our society that has to pay taxes still needs to wake up and realize thier power over their government.

Of course there's the other side of the equation. The half of the electorate that pays little or nothing and clambers for ever more government.

James DeMint (R-SC)
United States House of Representatives
Heritage Lecture, April 5, 2001

or as Walter Williams so quaintly puts it:

It's like me in the restaurant: What do I care about extravagance if you're footing the bill?

Bush touts relief as tax day looms

Another 3.9 million Americans will have their income tax liability completely eliminated, officials said.

That's 3.9 million Americans more added to the spending constituency of 70% of the public clamoring for more from government, figuring someone else foots the bill.

Hmmmm, wonder who Congress Critters figure are the ones to keep them in office.

The siren call for representation without taxation is the formula that got us where we are at today. The ability to hide or disguise taxation from the view of large sectors of the electorate allows the Congress to get away with the creation of the evergrowing monster that it fosters.

Liberty and freedom have a price, responsibility. If the perception of burden laid by government is interfered with or avoided there are no brakes on the growth of government, the ultimate result is the end of freedom through creeping socialism.

Yes, we call them liberal Democrats. It is tragic that so many see the government as some form of provider, and think that somehow the people are going to get more out of the government than they pay in -- well, for some, that is true. A sick perspective, really.

The fair tax was not on the ballot. What was on the ballot was if voters would support a retail tax in place of property tax. Boortz is full of it.
