Tehran, 19 July (AKI) - Approximately 320,000 workers have lost their jobs in the past year, Iranian labour minister Seyyed Mohammad Jahromi said Wednesday. According to official figures, 12,3 percent of Iranians are currently unemployed. The labour minister said the government was "powerless in confronting the economic crisis" and blamed the high unemployment rate on the "bad management of public and private companies."

Official figures also show that most Iranian workers don't have permanent contracts. According to the labour ministry, 65 percent of the workforce has short-term contracts.

And the unemployment rate is rising because the former opposition fighters have put down their arms and joined the labor pool.

How about selling more oil and investing the profits in your country instead of funding terrorism and nuclear bombs?

Yep.

If it wasn't for Bush and all those sanctions, Iran would have a thriving labor force working in their nuclear plants and on their missle assembly lines.

Is the Iranian government getting ready to justify seizing private companies and firing public sector employees who don't meet the hard line sniff test?

Between taking time out to pray every three or four hours and the daily noon wife beatings and the occassional march/demonstration theres just not much left for productivity.

We should bomb a few bridges, roads, airports and power plants. Think of all the jobs it will create.

Ok. Yes I think I am but it has nothing to do with whomever is President. It has more to do with self initiative, determination and hard work and of course, talent along with a modicum of creativity. I don't depend on the government for anything beyond what the Founders intended.
