Posted on 07/20/2006 4:29:46 PM PDT by SJackson
The most powerful men the world has ever known are George Bush and Dick Cheney men who make war but avoided combat when they had a chance to fight. They are not merely hypocrites, however. Their hypocrisy is attached to policy, and that policy is a danger to the nation.
Bush and Cheney must be impeached for their high crimes and removed from office. Their wars on Afghanistan and Iraq are illegal wars of aggression outlawed by the U.N. Charter, the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.
Throughout human history, those who kill, bully, scheme, lie and cheat are usually the people who gain power over communities of humans. We call these people "rulers." For the last 600 years men and women fought to restrain out-of-control, absolute monarchs with their arbitrary powers to start wars, rape, murder, steal, starve, destroy and tax.
Since the Enlightenment, citizens have fought for the idea that humans should come together, either selected or elected, to discuss and adopt a body of law. Those laws would then "rule" the community. Their fight was successful. In many nations today kings, queens, prime ministers and presidents lead their nations, but laws limit their power.
The British struggled for 400 years to place the concept of impeachment in their body of laws. The revolutionaries, who fought against the British to found our nation, placed the concept of impeachment front and center in our Constitution. Jefferson, Adams, Washington and others argued that all citizens and political leaders are always beneath the law. No one has the power to operate above the law. Therefore, if a person is elected or appointed to a government position, he or she must follow the laws or be removed from office by impeachment. We have lost the rule of law and the fairness of law. Bush and Cheney have placed themselves above the law. They have started two wars of aggression, organized the torture of prisoners, set up secret prisons, conducted warrantless wiretaps on Americans, and broken the nuclear disarmament treaty. The list goes on.
Today our family members can be effectively prosecuted for things like the violation of traffic laws. But Bush and Cheney, who started illegal wars and are causing the deaths of tens of thousands of people, go scot-free and stay in power. There has been no accountability for our highest leaders when they break the law. The concepts of fairness and justice at the highest levels in our nation are broken.
On top of this, one of the most sacred values in a republic, free and fair elections, has been tarnished. We now have questionable election outcomes in 2000 and 2004, leaving us with an uncertainly whether Bush was fairly elected.
You and I, as citizens, and our nation, as a member of the world of nations, are in an untenable situation. But the founding fathers and mothers provide us with a "repair." It is the impeachment process. You and I must rise up and demand that our elected representatives commence the impeachment process in the U.S. House of Representatives. Let the House investigate the allegations of law breaking. If they believe law breaking has taken place, let the Senate then decide whether Bush and Cheney will be removed from office.Where to start? Today, groups in nearly 50 cities across America will be conducting impeachment teach-ins sponsored by the nonpartisan Center for Constitutional Rights.
Please join us this evening at the teach-in hosted by the Madison Area Peace Coalition. It will start at 7 in Room 2650 of the UW-Madison Humanities Building on campus. There will be a film on the Center for Constitutional Right's recent book, "Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush,"followed by discussions by UW Madison law Professor David Schwartz, attorney and activist Ben Manski and the audience.
You can make a difference. No one else is going to restore the rule of law for ourselves and our kids. We either restore the rule of law now or it will be gone. Join us tonight and decide if it is time for you to take action.
Yeesh! Whatta drama queen!
Bush and Cheney will be out of office in about 30 months. What will these people do with themselves then?
I have a better idea....."Beautify America....Beat Up a Liberal".
"Sorry can't make it. I am toooooo weak from my world famous fast."
signed, C---y Al-sheehan
I would be suprised if more than a couple of dozen people show.
Get a job ya buncha brainstems
Thank you for Al Queda's point of view.
They'll find someone else to blame. It is part of the victimhood process.
Hope the law prof explains you can't do an impeachment twofer. Impeach Bush, you've got the President from Halliburton. OK with me.
Impeach him, President Hastert
President Stevens (I don't like that one, Alaska has enough bridges)
Then President Rice, President Paulson (treasury before defense?) and President Rumsfeld.
Sucks when you can't win elections.
No....must not...would not be prudent
Good point. The democrats are in complete disarray, because their sole focus has been bash Bush..
I wonder if half of these tools who cry impeachment even know what it means. I have run across many people who insist Nixon was impeached.
Two Words: Bill Clinton.
It's not like you can hire a lawyer to impeach him.
They'll go back to abusing gerbils.
President Bush leaves office Jan 20, 2009. That's about 54 months from now. 54 months to enjoy the frothings of the moonbat left. (..and certain elements of the right.)
I hope you were listing the next four or five presidents there, LOL.
Another washed-up 60's era idea. These people are so hung up on reliving their glory days. Hey grandpa, your hippie protest days are gone...FOREVER!
Sounds like a way to raise cash amongst the ignorant masses...
(Go Israel, Go! Slap 'Em, Down Hezbullies.)
The author, "Buzz" Davis, might pack a extra celebratory bong.
Gaaghhhhg brain fade. Not enough caffiene..
Years have 12 months. Remember, years have 12 months.
24 + 5 = 29.
(hides face in hands)
Hilarious -the guy goes by "Buzz" - probably because he is always waiting for his latest "buzz" to wear off?? Amazing how these leftist twits just string together their favorite BUZZwords without ever troubling to analyze facts & evidence, etc.
And the list keeps going on. You can't impeach a Democrat into office unless Dem's can win elections.
Teach-In = Moonbat Ranting
Especially since this is during summer school at the Univ. of Wisconsin!
I was about to ask you what year this is thinking I imagined the last couple. :-)
These people are stupid. But this "Impeach Bush" BS helps the idiots self-identify, so you can avoid them and snicker behind their backs.
The wingnut bozo exposed that he is educated beyond his capacity with "No one else is going to restore the rule of law for ourselves and our kids." Ourselves and our kids? Sheesh!
"Jefferson, Adams, Washington and others argued that all citizens and political leaders are always beneath the law.
No one has the power to operate above the law."
Errrrrrr, yeah, OK, but Democrats are to be excluded, right? No? It does't appear to be that way now does it.
Try to beat up on the Republican team that succeeds them.
Geez, what an asshat.
Scream, "Impeach Rice!"
Didn't Bubba just say he would suit up and grab a rifle for Israel?
"The most powerful men the world has ever known are George Bush and Dick Cheney men who make war but avoided combat when they had a chance to fight. "
Wonder if CLinton can make it. I thought he was a war hero. Oh wait, he dodged the draft and went to Europe.
I guess as soon as Buzz puts down the bong, he'll get around to building his website.
Congratulations! Your site is now ready for use! This page is a temporary placeholder for your site until you are ready to upload your web files.
what a waste of space.....
Oh. My. HECK.
Remember Pat Paulsen's presidential runs? They were hysterical.
