Even using the phrase "Islamic Fascism" fails to identify the problem and the enemy sufficiently. That phrase implies that there is an Islam that is not fascistic, that does not advocate death to the infidel and world wide conquest. There are people who profess to be Muslim who don't conduct jihad, some who don't even want sharia law to govern society, but they are not true Muslims. Islam, and what it teaches, is the problem.

In the Cold War, we didn't fight "communistic dictatorialism" or "socialist fascism" but "communism". There were communists who were not violent and fit into the society well, writers, teachers and so on, but they all had a belief that followed to its end would lead to eradication of our way of life and enslavement of our people. Similarly with Islam, its adherents believe that Muhammad was God's messenger, and that God said a number of things that require Muslims to spread Islam across the globe, by the sword if need be, to kill enemies, enslave the infidels, subjugate the women, and all the other crazy beliefs that Mad Mo made up.

The problem is Islam.

Good speech. Until America and the non-Muslim world wakes up to the fact that the real problem is Islam, I guess we will have to settle for "Islamofascism."

Every major Islamic fascist leader, from heads of states to heads of al Qaeda and Hizbollah, has openly identified the United States as their prime target, and repeatedly promises the creation of a new, global, "caliphate" where Islamic fascism will rule mankind. This language comes from both Sunni and Shi'ite fanatics, whether Arab, Persian, Indonesian, American, or British.

EXCELLENT speech!

He mentioned the govt leakers, and I don't understand why we can't track them down using lie detectors.

Santorum said this?? I wish that it would be released to Pennsyltuckians who currently seem poised to put in the liberal democrat Bob Casey in Rick's place.

I'm a third party guy myself but I'll be supporting Rick this November. I wish apparently braindead Pennsyltuckians would do so as well. Putting in a liberal just because you have incumbentitis is no solution. If there were a good, viable conservative third party candidate I'd say go for it.

I suppose looking at issues and voting records is alot to expect from the same Republicans who helped elect democrat Rendell. Oh well; I've been in the process of voting with my feet in Penn for some time now. It won't be long I hope.

I never go the fascism part. Fascism requires a corporate/govt connection in running the conomy and a heavy dose of nationalism.

AQ and Hezbollah have no corporations, nationalism isn't that prevalent.

They have no governing philosophy in poly sci terms.

They have the Dar al Islam and the Dar al Harb and the Caliphate. Great speech by Santorum

I never go the fascism part.

They certainly have more in common with Communism, each with a slightly different emphasis. Maybe it is Islamunism.

I think this was a wonderful speech, on par with Bush's at National Endowment for Democracy in 2005. I say that through the prism of history since 9/11. Remember when everybody was absolutely falling over themselves trying not to "offend" Muslims in the days and weeks after the attack? Now, it is almost five years later where Islam is being mentioned with the word terrorism in the same speech—let alone the same sentence by politicians.

This is the end result of a lot of patient people who know who the enemy is, and the academic community from Pipes, Hansen, Spencer, on down articulating objective study of history and analytical, critical critique of Islam for distribution to the nation.

Can someone in PA please explain to me why the polls are saying that Santorum will lose badly in November? Any state in the US should be proud to have a man like him as it's Senator IMHO.

1. Casey is the son of a fave, some think the name alone (anti-abortion Dem) should elect him dispite his other left views. 2. There are more Dems in Pa. 3. Rick is a conserv. and that alone with the media in Pa. is unforgiveable. 3. Rendell is popular and unless Pubs really turn out, both good candidates, Swann and Rick go down. In fact, Dems are looking for some House switches. Sad but true.

Communism was Godless and atheistic. Islam is the total opposite. I'd just call it Jihad. There's communism, fascism, socialism, and jihad. Thery're all different.

The similarity I was suggesting was that both are fanatical for their causes and are ruthless in their means. As I said, the only difference is the emphasis of each - one on Party, the other on religion. Bottomline, party and religion are simply vehicles employed by ruthless men to gain and keep power.

"The problem is Islam"

Yes. Until that is stated clearly, little progress can be made.

However, the powers that be know that is the real problem. They won't say it because they are afraid of the cure.

The cure is the eradication of Islam. Not the people, but the religion.

In just the same way that the defeat of Communism (ongoing), and Naziism involves the destruction of an idea, so with Islam.

I would suggest the destruction of all Islamic symbols and literature, and also the proscription of all teachers of that religion.

It's not "radical islam", "islamists", "muslim extremists" or "hijackers of islam" that are the problem.

Islam is the problem...until we call it like it is by stating that we are at war with islam and that islam is the enemy, we will never have a chance to win this war.

Well good for Santorum but it's a day late and a dollar short. Not to pick on him personally, but I'm picking all ALL republicans here, who took pains to not be seen at the Presidents side or heard supporting his policies.

Republicans who've remained mute throughout the outlandish attacks of the Democrats made toward a sitting president during a time of war.

Republicans who could've stood tall and powerful with control of both houses of congress but instead have squandered such power to the point there may be serious jeopardy in losing seats.

Republicans who could've spent time and money getting this very message about identifying the terrorist to their constitutents, if only they'd had the gumption to say "NUTS!" to the NY Slimes and the Wash ComPost.

So good for Santorum for saying it now. But it hardly meets the mark in what I expect out of national leaders.
