You don't have to be an astronaut anymore to experience walking in space. All you need is $35 million and the willingness to risk your life.

A private Virginia firm that already has sent three super-rich men to the international space station for $20 million each announced Friday it would offer an even rarer adventure: A stroll outside the space station for an extra $15 million.

"It is the holy grail of spaceflight; it's something very few of the astronauts and cosmonauts have done," said Eric Anderson, chief executive of Space Adventures Ltd.

The spacewalk is very dangerous. Tourists would probably hover just outside on a short tether and with their spacesuits inflated like a three year old in a snowsuit so they couldn't move their arms or legs.

Read the story this a.m. in the local paper. Gives "moonbats" a new meaning. Somebody is making the Russians rich.

Who would have thunk the ISS would become Disney World for the super rich?

That would be enough for me. If I ever get a big enough lottery win I would do it.

I'll let you walk around my backyard in a bubble suit for a mere 50K.

The spacewalk is free. It costs $15 million to get them to open the hatch for you to get back in, though.

I was wondering when this news would hit FR. Can you imagine how frustrated Tito and Shuttleworth feel, discovering that their "bragging rights" will shortly be upstaged and downgraded?

There's a Japanese tycoon training to go up next. Will he spring for the extra 15 million for a postcard of himself doing an EVA?

Disney World for the superrich, I like that...it isn't the thrill they're paying for, though, as much as the status symbol.

If I had the cash, I'd fund a trip to Mars. $35 million seems like a paltry price for the experience of a lifetime.
