If he wasn't such a diva, he could have turned it into a show that he and those 45 fans would have remembered for the rest of their lives...

For a show with 45 people, even though it was such an enourmous hall, he could have gotten "close" to the audience, either going out to hang out with them, or inviting some up onto the stage. He could have spoken with them, and had a really good time.

Sure, it was embarrassing to only have 45 people show up, but instead, he decided to be an ass.

My brother saw The Police touring from the back of a station wagon in the late 1970's here in Birmingham, Alabama. I think the club was called Hollywood Underground, or Brothers Music Hall. Same club, but it just changed names, I don't know when they changed the name though. In the 1930's and 40's that place was called the Hollywood Country Club. It was located in Birminghams suburban town that is now called Homewood. It is torn down now and has become the site of a big Hotel In the late 70's and the early 80's it had a lot of odd bands though, Elvis Costello, and the Sex Pistols to name two. I lot of one hit wonders like Wild Cherry also.
