Kerry on Mideast conflct: 'If I was president, this wouldn't have happened'...

Kerry knocks Bush on handling of Mideast conflict

Valerie Olander / The Detroit News

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D- Mass., who was in town Sunday to help Gov. Jennifer Granholm campaign for her re-election bid, took time to take a jab at the Bush administration for its lack of leadership in the Israeli-Lebanon conflict.

"If I was president, this wouldn't have happened," said Kerry during a noon stop at Honest John's bar and grill in Detroit's Cass Corridor.

Bush has been so concentrated on the war in Iraq that other Middle East tension arose as a result, he said.

"The president has been so absent on diplomacy when it comes to issues affecting the Middle East," Kerry said. "We're going to have a lot of ground to make up (in 2008) because of it."

Kerry lost by a narrow margin to Bush in 2004 and plans to seek the Democratic nomination for the presidency in 2008.

Today marks the 12th day of fighting between Israel and Lebanon. Israel launched air strikes after Hezbollah militants, whom operate within Lebanon, kidnapped two Israeli soldiers in an attempt to swap them for prisoners.

Israel began a ground invasion, sending tanks and troops across the border as thousands of Lebanese have fled to escape the fighting.

Hezbollah guerillas should have been targeted with other terrorist organizations, such as al-Qaida and the Taliban, which operate in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Kerry said. However, Bush, has focused military strength on Iraq.

"This is about American security and Bush has failed. He has made it so much worse because of his lack of reality in going into Iraq.…We have to destroy Hezbollah," he said.

He's pandering to a Muzzie crowd in Detroit. Obviously "Honest John" doesn't refer to John Kerry.

The Big Dig and tunnel disaster/fiasco happened under his watch. While corruption, murder, and chaos run rampant in his hometown, he tries to convince people that things would be better if he was in charge. Jeez, what a moron.

When Kerry was named to co-chair the Senate Committee investigating U.S. POWs and MIAs in Indochina many in Congress thought if anyone could clear up this controversy it would be a "war hero." Not only did Kerry hide, cover-up and shred evidence, his cousin, Stuart Forbes got a multi-billion-dollar contract from communist Vietnam to build ports and other infrastructure. He comes out of the most corrupt political machine in America. The same one that built the Big Dig.

Thank God! Can you imagine the legislation he would try to pass. Remember big difference between what we think is meaningful and what he does. I would rather him not do anything and blabber on about nothing because it makes him more foolish.

John Kerry is still a useless backbencher in the Senate. He has never achieved anything of note there. Love him or hate him, you read of Arlen Spector, Chuck Schumer, Hillary and John Cornyn in the Senate. When have you ever read of John Kerry's activities? He's a jerk and a misfit who has no socializing ability with his Senate colleagues and exhibits zero leadership capabilities there. Yet he wants to lead this nation and STUPIDLY BOASTS how he could have done better with this Lebanon/Israel conflict

Of course not, Crim, he said:

In other words, just point at them and tell them to stop. Or else. That's all that Kerry would need to do to stop them from fighting, just "target" them.
