DENVER - Moderate Democrats think they have the key to winning back power in Washington and across the country - a package of economic proposals aimed at giving every American a shot at reaching the middle class.

"We thought it was important and necessary to rekindle the American dream," said Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa, a potential 2008 presidential candidate and the chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council, a centrist think tank.

The centrist organization, best known for helping Bill Clinton secure the White House in 1992, was to unveil Monday its "American Dream Initiative," which lays out policies on education, health care, retirement and income.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, who led the yearlong effort and also may run for president, will outline the specific proposals in a speech to nearly 400 local elected Democratic officials from more than 40 states attending the organization's annual meeting in Republican-leaning Colorado.

I fully expect this latest attempt to forge a "centrist" message will get drowned out by the self loathing hate-America crowd. For crying out loud, one of the most prominent members of the DLC, Joe Lieberman, actively has his party working against him in a primary.

"proposals aimed at giving every American a shot at reaching the middle class. "

They forgot to add "by using other people's income and buying your vote by handing it out to our lackluster/non-productive voterbase!

People don't need a bunch of make-work-for-unproductive-Democrats government programs, they just need to get off their asses, get educated and then start looking for a job.

Democrats pin hope on ‘American dream’

"American Nightmare, is more like it..."

Yup.
The more good news there is for America, the sadder the RATS get, and the harder they work with their drive-by media puppets to spin good news into bad news.
The RATS Party is vested in America's failure right now.

Bush's proposals during the first four years was aimed at this. The RATS shot it down.

I, FReeper rogue yam, have a plan that will give every American a shot at the middle class. I call it the "Don't Be a Punk Plan". I will now share my plan with the world. Here we go:

Don't do drugs or be a drunk.
Obey the law.
Don't threaten people.
Get every bit of education you can.
Work (this is really important).
Be frugal and save.
Pull your damn pants up and speak English so that educated people can understand you.

There it is, world. My "Don't Be a Punk Plan". Guaranteed to work. And the best part is you can get started right away, it requires no outside funding, and it doesn't matter who's elected.

There are no Moderate Democrats any more. IMO, their party is run by brainless appeasing cowards who are anti-America, anti-military, and anti-God.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, who led the yearlong effort and also may run for president, will outline the specific proposals in a speech ...

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York

That sounds similar to Walter Williams plan:

"Here's Williams' roadmap out of poverty: Complete high school; get a job, any kind of a job; get married before having children; and be a law-abiding citizen. Among both black and white Americans so described, the poverty rate is in the single digits." -- Walter Williams

The only kind of "dream" the Dems can conjure up for America is a nightmare.

Here is the RAT version of the American Dream.
1. Raise taxes.
2. Confiscate all firearms.
3. Censor people that don't agree with them (I.E. Rush).
4. Neutralize people that attack their sacred ideas (I.E. Ann Coulter).
5.Make multi-culturalism the official law of the land.
6. Stifle all faith based activities and teachings.
7. Replace the State Department with the U.N.
8. Eliminate private property rights.
9. Turn the responsibility of raising children over to the government schools (it takes a village).
10.Eliminate all non-government schools including home schooling.
11. Elevate losers to hero status.
12. Raise taxes again.

Did I miss anything?

"...a package of economic proposals aimed at giving every American a shot at reaching the middle class.

The vast majority of Americans were already in the middle class (Blacks Included) before the DemocRATS started in with their Great Society idiocy and their insane Social Security plundering pyramid scheme.

Let me guess. Even more Socialist/Marxist redistribution of wealth schemes. Gee, what a surprise!

The problem is that the Democraps don't wan anyone to rise above the middle class. That's why you see 401k shenanigans like "highly compensated employee".
