WASHINGTON, July 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Executive Director of The National Pro-Life Action Center, the nation's only pro-life initiative located on Capitol Hill, has responded to the expected endorsement of Jim King for Florida State Senate by Gov. Jeb Bush. Dr. Paul Chaim Schenck, the Executive Director of the Center, which is a joint project of Catholics United for Life, Priests for Life and Faith and Action (with a combined membership of over 250,000), issued the following statement -
"Shame, shame on Jeb Bush for betraying the memory of Terri Schindler Schiavo by endorsing Jim King. As Senate president, King had the power to protect Terri, but for cynical political purposes he did not. Now Jeb Bush wants us to forget that King was largely responsible for Terri's death. Bush should know that King does not support the sanctity of life - he endorses Roe V. Wade."
"Gov. Bush cannot in clear conscience endorse a candidate who opposes the teachings of the Catholic Church, the beliefs of millions of other religious conservatives and who supports euthanasia and abortion on demand. I implore Gov. Bush not to endorse Jim King's anti-life agenda: Jeb Bush, you know better than that."
Schenck will be available for interviews throughout the night and during the day on Wednesday, July 26: contact him at 410-707-6790 or contact NPLAC Executive Vice President Kimberly Zenarolla at 202-494-4410.

Bush ready to endorse King for Senate, aides say
By J. TAYLOR RUSHING, Capital Bureau Chief
TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Jeb Bush is stepping into the First Coast's state Senate race between two Republicans to endorse incumbent Jim King over challenger Randall Terry.
Bush plans to announce the endorsement today in Tallahassee, according to King and Bush staffers. The governor's move could be a serious blow to Terry, who has been attacking King's GOP credentials for more than a year. The endorsement also is a rarity for the state's top Republican, who typically refrains from picking favorites among party candidates.
The endorsement may go back to the spring when King helped Bush promote legislation to protect school vouchers and loosen the class-size constitutional amendment. Although the measures failed, King helped lead the push in the Senate and said Bush is repaying the favor.
"He just said, 'I appreciate it and you'll see how much so in your race,'" King said. "This makes a tremendous difference, and I can guarantee you it will be used."
Terry called the news "tragic."
"I thought the governor was a man of principle," he said. "This ignores the base of this party in this district. The political record of Jim King and the agenda of Jeb Bush have been at odds repeatedly, and this is why so many rank-and-file Republicans are disenchanted with the party's leadership. They forget about their base."
Bush has had friction with both men. In 2003, while King was Senate president, the two disagreed on medical malpractice lawsuits and forced a series of special legislative sessions. Since then, there has been tension between the two over Bush vetoes of King's priorities in the state budget.
This year, the two worked together on a range of legislation and Bush left intact an appropriation King helped win for $10 million in state money for the St. Johns River cleanup.
"Both of us always held each other in high regard, and we always laughed at each other no matter what the debate was," King said. "Mostly we've been on the same page."
Bush and Terry have an uneasy history because of the 2005 Terri Schiavo debate. Terry was a spokesman for the brain-damaged woman's parents while Bush was trying to maneuver around a court order to re-insert her feeding tube. Terry criticized the governor for not doing more, saying Bush lacked courage during the legal showdown and "failed" the family and supporters. Terry has kept a spotlight on the issue, campaigning recently with Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler.
Terry said he and Bush were on the same side throughout most of the episode but acknowledged he was unhappy with Bush's "unwillingness to intervene."
"I'm committed to principle first," Terry said. "That's why this is disappointing."

Because Terry is an amazing man who knows God is in charge. People with Terry's qualities don't always do well in the political world, but justice will be done, sooner or later.

From the News-Press:
Bush and King have been at odds in past years, but the outgoing governor credited him Wednesday for helping pass new lawsuit limits and education reforms, as well as originally supporting Bushs attempts to keep brain-damaged Terri Schiavo alive.
King famously broke with Bush last year when Schiavos feeding tube was removed, and the Florida Senate refused to have it re-inserted.
Terry, who has widespread support from Christian evangelicals, is campaigning against King in his Jacksonville district specifically for fighting that bill. But Bush said Wednesday that Terry was more of a hindrance during the Schiavo ordeal than King.
"Randall Terry during that period and afterward made no positive contribution . . . related to Terri Schiavo. None," Bush said. "He was a hindrance in our effort to save this womans life."
Randall Terry was throughly demonized by the MSM during Operation Rescue and I don't know if he can every recover from it. I believe that that is what is happening now. The first time I saw him on television (on Hannity & Colmes) I found him charming, engaging and very serious about the RTL cause. Once the MSM paints you a certain way, you are toxic.
I find that his true nature shines through the "toxicity." When his enemies try to paint him negatively, they look like fools.

It's morally permissible to vote for a pro or semi-pro-abortion politician if his opponent is worse, or if there are other better candidates who have no chance of winning. But I wouldn't do it.
If you want one of these bumper stickers please freepmail.
I need 100. Honest. I'll freepmail the address. How much?

Yeah, it's disgusting and vile that Gov. Bush endorsed a pro-abort.
If Floridians are ignorant enough to vote for Jim King who doesn't follow the GOP Creed Florida will get even sleazier than it already is.
I can't support Tom Lee for CFO. Jim King made an illegal junket to Toronto to pick up big money from a casino owner who is Canadian. Tom Lee fixed that offense for King and also for Frank Farkas and one other politician.
There is no govt in the Sunshine in Florida any more. I cannot vote for lawbreakers or ticket fixers.
Floridians wake up.
"Randall Terry during that period and afterward made no positive contribution . . . related to Terri Schiavo. None," Bush said. "He was a hindrance in our effort to save this womans life."
Jeb Bush had executive powers that he did not use. Shame on him. Now he's trying to blame Randall Terry for Terri's judicial homicide? It was Judge Greer who is friends with the Bushes' rich fat cat Sembler clan.
Years ago, a lot of conservatives criticized Barry Goldwater for saying that he "endorses and would vote for" then NY Senator Jacob K. Javits. Of course, Javits did ot return the favor in 1964. People in NY had great faith in Javits for a time at least.
I think FL will give King over 60 percent; people there are a lot more liberal than many of the conservatives on this forum think.
Dear Theodore R.,
Conservatives usually come out on the short end of this particular stick.
RINOs complain when we don't want to support them, but the trail of failed RINO support for conservatives and Republicans is long, littered, and bloody.

I recommend that you forward it on. Judge Greer is oh so close to Charlie Crist and to Senator Jim King. It is beyond scandalous!

It is a well kept secret that JUDGE GREER has been on a committee from Pinellas County that is charged with bringing dollars back to Pinellas County. Can you say conflict of interest? SENATOR JIM KING was the moneyman. Jim King likes the idea of starving people and Judge Greer goes to Tallahassee to get money for Pinellas County.
Connect the dots from one fool to the next. Fools want to rule Florida and unfortunately, they largely do already.
August 25, 2005 The Terri Schiavo Case: Schiavo Tangled Web Extends to St. Petersburg College Topics: News from Conservative Voice
Those now infamous words of Judge George Greer - "The law of this case is that she will die," I'll never forget how bizarre that sounded to me, actually ordering that a disabled woman could not even be given a chance to live but had to be starved and dehydrated to death. But everything about the Terri Schiavo case was bizarre, especially the acts of Michael Schiavo both before and after her death.
But the 'bizarreness' of the case goes beyond just strange -it goes to deceipt, lies and corruption, and it's begining to appear that as the days go by, more and more surfaces about the deceipt of Michael Schiavo. Just a few days ago we learned about Michael's lies about his college degree on his guardianship application, and now we learn about the not-so-little "matter of the testimony Schiavo gave under oath at a deposition in November, 1993, in a challenge to his guardianship when he testified that he had been attending St. Petersburg Junior College for almost two and half years now and had "just graduated EMT school.""
On his employment application filed with Pinellas County Sheriffs Department in July, 2004, when he applied for the position of jail nurse when Everett Rice was still sheriff, Schiavo said under penalties of perjury that he had attended the college from August, 1992 to August, 1993 and obtained his EMT certificate in 1993.
According to the colleges director of Institutional Advancement, Michael Schiavo was not awarded any college credit certificates and thus did not graduate from EMT school as he testified under oath. There is no EMT School at St. Petersburg.
Sorry, but I live in FL and saw Randall Terry speak, and he's not ready for prime time. Furthermore, he for some reason went into a totally unrelated tirade where he bashed Hispanics.
Florida has a large Hispanic population (legal) and I can't imagine what he was thinking. One woman left the room in tears, and I was about ready to walk out. I'm not Hispanic, btw, but I was really disgusted by the bigoted and inaccurate things he said. Furthermore, I couldn't understand why he had to say these things. People weren't there for that; they wanted to hear his pro-life stand and how he planned to achieve it.
I had gone to the speech because I wanted to vote for a strong anti-death candidate, and I was willing to work for him. However, that completely uncalled for stuff turned me off.
In his favor, I will say that I wrote to him, explaining my reaction, and he responded, so perhaps he's learning and growing. He's a good speaker and I think he could eventually be a good candidate/elected official. Just not this time around.
I hope he hangs in there, and the next time there's a shot at an influential elected office, I hope he's got it all together and can build a broad coalition, which is what he will have to do if he wants to get elected in Florida.
Hi FV. Hope you are doing well. It has been a long time since I've been on a thread with you. The Terri Schiavo case still makes my blood pressure rise, when I read about it. I still grieve over the murder that was sanctioned by our judical system.
I do NOT have respect for Jim King after the garbage he threw at conservative/ pro lifers during Terri's tragic fight for her life!! What's with Jeb endorseing him?? uggg
That being said, Tom Gallagher for Governor is doing better than the media and polls make it sound.
At least we aren't having hurricanes left and right this year. For two years, we were always on alert for the next one.
liberal = dumber than a box of rocks. RINO means dumber than liberal.
I would like to see the text of his remarks. He did the same thing about Republicans when he was in New York in 2004, and it was all accurate. I guess you could have left that room thinking he hated Republicans, but he was spot on.

Crist must be proud to be a member, photo op and everything! Didn't Harry Belafonte, an AARP spokesperson call the President a terrorist?
Character matters. King would be a bad choice. There are too many issues. And now there is the creep and sleaze factors along with various conflict of interests.
I am really suprised that Jeb is doing this. I, like many others, have thought that Jeb was solid, and could be trusted to do the right thing. Guess we are getting an education. As far as Crist, King and that despicable Greer, there is a cabal made for a Hollywood horror story. The problem here, as in any state, is that the voting public does not pay any attention, until it is too late. If Jim Davis runs against Crist (likely), then it is for Davis I will be. I would hardly ever vote for a Democrat, bu the thought of Crist and that Death Squad (hey, a great name "Crist and the Death Squad") makes me ill.
