Annan's Claims On Casualties May Unravel
The New York Sun ^ | July 27, 2006 | BENNY AVNI

An apparent discrepancy in the portrayal of events surrounding the deaths of four unarmed U.N. observers in Lebanon threatens to unravel Secretary-General Annan's initial accusation that Israel "deliberately" targeted the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon.

A Canadian U.N. observer, one of four killed at a UNIFIL position near the southern Lebanese town of Khiyam on Tuesday, sent an e-mail to his former commander, a Canadian retired major-general, Lewis MacKenzie, in which he wrote that Hezbollah fighters were "all over" the U.N. position, Mr. MacKenzie said. Hezbollah troops, not the United Nations, were Israel's target, the deceased observer wrote.

Will the libs start tossing around "Liar!" so quickly as they do with Bush, or will we see lots of posts on DU like "Let's just step back and wait for the FACTS to come out, people."?

Liberals wait for facts? You have got to be dreaming. Libs don't look for fact they make them up. Their motto seems to be, “say it enough with enough conviction and it becomes a fact.”

Truth and facts are the ultimate enemy of liberals.

This is obvioulsy another reason the criminal Kofi was so eager to distract attention from the the crimes of the UN by screaming out about "deliberate" targeting of UN people by Israel.
Figures.

Like any good socialist, he believes in the power of the accusation without regard to facts.

They need to read FR. We had that e-mail on here earlier. I bet Tony knew about it, and got the ball rolling.

A neighbor works at the UN in the IT dept. Even in that out-of-the-loop position he hears stories all the time about the corruption that goes all the way to the top. KA is a joke and a disgrace to the real people who work there.

UNIFIL has been aiding and abetting Hezbollah for years. That's why the UN has left it there. So I wouldn't have objected even if Israel had targeted them deliberately.

With this going on within 2 meters of their position you have to wonder why in hell they weren't pulled out. Kofi Annan and the UN are responsible for these mens deaths. This is gross negligence on his part.

They weren't pulled out because they were doing exactly what they were supposed to do. Aid and abet Hezbollah. And they were expendable. To the UN and Hezbollah, anyway.
