Keeping the trust is the first order (Minutemen-Simcox)
Jewish World Review ^ | July 28, 2006 | Wesley Pruden

Posted on 07/28/2006 3:05:06 AM PDT by Anti-Bubba182

The first thing a Minuteman has to learn is to keep his powder dry. The bigger the powder magazine, the bigger the risk of getting it all wet.

This is the lesson that Chris Simcox, the president of the volunteers on the border, who have almost single-handedly aroused the nation's conscience about the tide of illegal immigration, seems to have missed in basic training.

The "powder" is the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Americans have contributed to the Minutemen, who have been exceedingly helpful to the U.S. Border Patrol. The careful, rigorous reporting of Jerry Seper in The Washington Times reveals that the Minutemen management has not made its records of fundraising and finances public in more than a year, raising the hackles and suspicions of several top Simcox aides. Some of them have resigned, protesting the loose management of the money...."[snip]

"... All the more reason that Chris Simcox and his lieutenants must account for the money and explain what the Declaration Alliance, the grandly named political public-relations firm in Herndon, has done with the money it has collected and disbursed in the name of the Minutemen. The Declaration Alliance is the creation of Alan Keyes, the smooth-talking conservative activist and sometime pol, and is meant to provide mass mailings, public relations and "a fully accredited and independent audit." So far no one in the Minutemen management has said how much has been paid to the Declaration Alliance, and what the Minutemen got for the money...."

Mine was a VERY well reasoned and logical question.

Whatever Mrs. Dean! How's Howard this evening?

Not my name, but since you're so interested in Howie, why don't you just roll over and ask him? I'm sure that you two just can't wait for the same sex marriage laws to be set in motion.

Yes, and Simcox deserves to be deafened, at least til he comes out with a few explanations.

Thanks to the presence of more than 4,500 National Guard soldiers and airmen, about 250 U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol are back patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border, officials said July 25.

How funny is that? It takes 4500 NG soldiers to do the job of 250 BP Agents.

Now that's manpower well spent!

It doesn't sound like the BP is doing spit. You are a prime example.

Correct, they're out busting their humps trying to stop a tidal wave. They leave the spitting to retired engineers.

I dont ask the MMDC to solve all the immigration problems; I do expect a good attempt at it by the Federal Government; especially since Tex has accused the MMDC of doing things only the Feds are able to do in this forum.

You hold a double, unattainable standard for Simcox.

You dont apply the same scrutiny to the actions the Feds are taking.

Simcox's group is not Rather's proportional fonts. They will release their information on their timetable; just as the NG will on Operation Jumpstart. The NG has the power and the printing press of the treasury behind them.

You are scrutinizing volunteers. They have been under attack of the press since 2003. There have been no new facts since the posts of the beginning of July and next Tuesday will be August first. If there was something particularly illegal, dont you think national media attention for the past 3 weeks would result in some frog marching or financial investigations?
They couldnt' find any actionable discrepancies against the MMDC.

Slam me as much as you want. The record will still be here.

Ping me around November 16th.

TWO three-month extensions of the filing deadline is the most they can get, eh?

Baloney Simcox has met his standard all of his life. He is a dishonest and paranoid crook.

First of all, Simcox is NOT "doing what the government is supposed to do", since the Fed Government isn't supposed to put up cattle fences, costing $300,000 a mile, for farmers/ranchers. Neither are they tasked for putting up "Israeli" type border fences, on private property.

If states would enforce existing laws, a whole lot of problems would bes gone; but they don't and haven't for 1/2 a century and before that, still longer.

And Simcox is befouling the entire MM movement, with his behavior. He is nothing but a snake oil salesman; yet you take his side, because you are so invested in this, emotionally and perhaps in other ways.

No, I hold one standard and only one....honesty.

Nobody elected Simcox to do a damned thing.

Nobody held a gun to his his head and made him ignore keeping good records.

Nobody is forcing him to ignore doing the right/correct thing.

The gullible get hoodwinked all the time. If I knew where you lived, I'd pull the "pigeon drop" on you, but I wouldn't keep the money. That's the difference between me and Simcox.

There have been no new facts, because Simcoxc is sitting on them. When Nov. 15 rolls around and he STILL hasn't filled with the IRS, you will still be trying to protect him and make excuses for him.

What will it take for you to wake up?

But there are many snide remarks about posters being in the minority, not conservative, not representative of Free Republic or conservatives. In general.

Yeah, there are.

From YOUR side. DUH.

This is from the DA 2004 990. I have looked a dozens of these form other 501c3 organizations including Moveon.org. I have never seen this much devoted to postage and printing and caging fees from any of them and some of them have revenues of more than 6 million bucks.
