Melodramatic images of war are now televised all day long. The images out of Israel this week have produced something new for war-soaked living-room audiences. One might call it Katyusha World.
The all-too-visible reality for the inhabitants of Katyusha World is that there is no defense against incoming rocket barrages other than hiding and hoping. The Hezbollah militia has decided to use unguided artillery Katyusha rockets like bullets. They fired more than 1,500 of them this week at Israeli population centers. Hezbollah is believed to possess longer-range missiles made in Syria and Iran for which Israel also has no defense. They would simply land and explode.

henninger's the best.
We posted this essay and discussed it here earlier. It is also now on http://peace-and-freedom.blogspot.com/
Two characteristics make Hezbollah very different, in fact unique in the history of stateless terror groups to date: use of medium range missiles and the professionalism of its fighting forces. When did any group but a nation have Chinese-made C-802 Silkworm missiles capable of hitting an Israeli warship? When did a terror group launch thousands of rockets into a neighboring sovereign nation?
Yet utilization of missiles and rockets is completely in character for Hezbollah. Hezbollah practically invented many of the terror tactics we see in Iraq today; like the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which Hezbollah first used during Israels occupation of Lebanon and now has become a daily threat to U.S. troops, coalition forces and civilians in Iraq.
Has anyone else here noticed how the MSM reports on the situation in Israel/Lebanon.
The reports always start with "Bombing in Beirut" followed by images of blown up buildings, children with wounds, doctors crying that it is inhuman, and talk about destruction.
Then, after about 10 minutes of that...
"Rockets fired into Israel" followed by a story about children playing in a bomb shelter and how they are smiling and enjoying the relative safety. Maybe a picture of a burning car and very possibly, mention of an injury or death...no pictures. No children dead or maimed. Usually, this will go for about 1 to 2 minutes.
Then, back to Lebanon.... Israeli troops moving in for the kill...
More fire, death, destruction and misery. People wailing for about 4-5 minutes.
I just noticed that it doesn't seem to matter which MSM network is covering it, they do the same story.
On the local news of ABC, NBC, and FOX - nothing was said regarding the recent statement by the muslim leader that they would kill all infidels from Iraq to Spain and annihilate America. This is coming from Southeast Michigan, home to Dearborn - which has the highest number of Arabs per capita of any city outside of the Middle East. Hmmmmmmm?
