How the U.N. Funds Terrorism (Excerpt)
The U.N. Exposed ^ | 2006 | Eric Shawn

It was a cool December evening. The Sabbath had ended, and the sons and daughters of Jerusalem bad good-bye to their parents and flooded outside to have fun with their friends on a Saturday night...In the crowd was Assaf Avitan, a fifteen-year-old tenth grader who had just been accepted into a special program for gifted children.

Assaf joined his friends that night to celebrate the sixteenth birthday of twins from his Jerusalem neighborhood. He was accompanied by his buddy, fifteen-year-old Golan Turgeman...It was 11:30 pm and Assaf and his pal had been standing on the sidewalk for about fifteen minutes chatting with their friends when two dark-haired young men--who surely in another age and at another place would have engaged Assaf in a game of soccer...blended into the crowd of teens and blew themselves up.

Assaf and Golan, so full of promise, were killed that night, and their deaths were due in part to the negligence fo the United Nations.

The pair who approached them were two Palestinian suicide bombers. The explosion sent searing metal fragments and ball bearings shooting into the flesh of the giddy kids, killing eleven of them and wounding--astonishingly--180 others. A car bomb exploded twenty minutes later, intended to kill and maim the police and paramedics who responded to the carnage.

The U.N. Security Council paid for the bombings. It contributed to teh murders...the Security Council also provided the ability to massacre hundreds more who have fallen victims to Palestinian terrorism...

First, with respect to the recent actions of the Security Council, it is no stretch to realize how the negiligence of Russia and France facilitated kickbacks from Iraqi oil contracts that were usaed as illicit funds to pay for terrorists and to reward their families...American diplomats warned France and Russia...that Saddam Hussein was soaking up kickbacks....eighteen months after the council members were alerted by the United States about the illegal diversion of U.N. dollars, the families of Assaf and Golan's two killers were rewarded with Iraqi oil money...

The House International Relations Committee revealed that the Hussein regime laundered the proceeds of Oil for Food contract kickbacks to pay rewards to the Palestinian families of suicide bombers. Starting with...the Intifada in 2000, [Iraq] diverted funds from the 10% kickbacks and deposited the illegal revenue in an account in the Rafidain bank in Amman, Jordan. The account also held revenue from other program payments. The money was then transferred to another account controlled by the Iraqi ambassador to Jordan, Sabah Yaseen.

Investigators say he...cut checks to the Palestinian families to honor and encourage the murder of innocent Israelis. Over a 2.5 year period, from September 2000 to...March 2003, Iraq shelled out $35 million for the families of Palestinians killed or wounded, providing bounties ranging from $15,000 to $25,000, along with a certificate of Saddam's smiling mug and that of Yasser Arafat. Roughly a hundred terrorist attacks claimed nearly 500 Israeli lives through the four-year Intifada, and Hussein distributed a bonanza to the families of terrorists and of those Palestinians who died or were wounded during Israeli military actions.

Is defending Israel a worthy cause? Were we right to invade Iraq? Is the United Nations a corrupt organization?

The above excerpt from this book tells the story.

I tried posting an excerpt from Eric Shaws's book at another left-leaning website and the post was deleted with the excuse that it was "right wing propaganda with the intent of selling a book".

Thanks for forwarding this to interested parties. I know it is a bit "boring", but if people really knew what was going on, they would be even more determined to hold the U.N. accountable! rd
