Cool. Thanks for the heads up Kelly. Hopefully they are announcing the combined intention of the US and UK to bomb Iran and Syria back to the stone age.

Make that "ahead to the stone age" come to think of it.

Announcement?

Given Tony's desire to rapproach the EU-weenies, this might not be good. Hopefully it is not a "balanced" plan that equally distributes blame and responsibility. Like a call for an immediate ceasefire would.

Better would be a call for the immediate ceasing of animal-like behavior of the islamopsychos worldwide. And vote on that.

Or maybe revoting on the resolution disarming hezbollah. Or revoting on the palestine 1948 mandate. I mean, really, UN, either Israel has a right to exist and live in peace, or it doesn't. Either affirm it or deny it.

Blair is coming here for only one purpose: to pressure Bush to pressure Israel.

In the same way the Road Map came about.

If it works and Bush does force Israel to stop short of its war aims, Bush will be cutting his own political throat.

The Iraq war is very unpopular. Americans will begin asking why is it possible to have a cease fire in Lebanon after a couple of weeks while Iraq drags on into infinity. Bush will not come out ahead when that question is asked.

Excellent observation - and "spot-on" accurate IMO!

Some might also ask why if Hezbollah may be allowed to survive, operate, and accumulate offensive weapons then should not the Iraqi "insurgency". Or Al Qaeda. All in the name of "peace". It's for the children, you know. Peace In Our Time, too!

You will have a clue of how strong Bush remains by the distance between Rice and the Middle East.

If Rice starts packing to go to Israel, Bush has weakened. If she the is there for several days, Bush has capitulated.

If Rice stays home and goes shopping instead at a local DC Mall, Bush is holding firm.

Actually she is in Malaysia right now...and I wonder if she would "stop by" Israel on her way home, regardless of the message??

I guess we will just have to wait and see...I just heard a radio news report that said that though Blair wants an immediate cease fire...President Bush doesn't want one until something is accomplished, namely getting rid of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Of course that doesn't mean anything...since Blair is meeting with Bush right now..

Bloomberg has Blair to Pressure Bush on Ceasefire, peace plan.

"...spelling out the terms of a peace plan."

Unless it includes Iran and Syria publicly declaring (in arabic and english) Israel's right to exist and live peacefully, then it is no peace plan, just a waste of (borrowed) time.

It was already announced before Blair's arrival that Rice was headed back to the ME in the nest day or two - right now she is in KUALA LUMPUR for the Asean Regional Forum
