Well at least it didn't crash off the coast of a deserted island.

Looks like the left wing gear collapsed and there was also a fire that was extinguished.
Lucky for them.

Good to know. I was wondering if the union goons again fixed your brakes.

I haven't seen any names yet. We've been checking around here but no one knows yet. Good news is no one was injured.

Actually, the only union goons are the guys flying the airplanes. Enough said on that topic. No point in speculating on this accident, but the MD-10 isn't the easiest airplane in the fleet to land. It is an old DC-10 with a new cockpit. Kind of like taking a Chrysler K car and putting a new Mercedes interior in it and calling it a Mercedes.
I'm just glad it sounds like the crew is ok. And of course the packages too. ; )

Shaggy?!? Buddy, you've been in California too long. Unless you're talking about the guy on Scooby Doo.
And seriously...it wasn't me.

I know it wasn't you, you were too well trained for that. You would have boltered.
Shaggy, is a popular reggae singer in the U.S. His biggest hit is a song called "It wasnt me". I 'edited' the lyrics just a touch.....

I have a package flying in from Scotland today on FedEx and they land in Memphis for customs. My plane is still in the air though.

Exactly the same thing with the B737-300 (to 500) series. I have the same suspicion about wing-lets put on the older wings not designed for it. The enhancement may be more visual than anything else.., LOL.

Yeah. When I drive one in, I'm sure it will be far more impressive than a little broken landing gear and a small fire. When I screw up, I tend to go all the way.

I'm with you. Kind of like putting a chrome exhaust tip on a Dodge Neon. Except it costs more.

Yeah like the 727-100/200's I have seen with winglets LOL.
Or back to the car analogy, I was thinking more like the huge multi-winged spoilers you see on the back of the Dodge Neon sized cars, it probably takes 10 mph OFF the top end! But they FEEL AND LOOK FAST. I guess thats what counts ;)

LOL, I have this image of a long drawn out escapade ending up with a mall piece that you step out of a little bit mused up but unharmed.
That reminds of an incident I read on the F4 at the WPAF museum. The F4 was the only airplane in the entire world to have ever made a gear up takeoff.
He was coming in hot on an emergency landing and the aircraft was veering off into a culvert. Fortunately in this case he still had the wing tanks on the wing and he was skidding on those. So he tapped full burner again and got enough altitude for him the co-pilot to punch out.
