Thank you for that. Now maybe I can use italics like everybody else does when I'm quoting someone!
Why Maryland?
I went there some years ago to visit a boyfriend near Severna and I thought I had been dropped into paradise. I got rid of the boyfriend, but still hold on to the dream.
Ah. I was afraid it was because you liked their flag...
Heh heh. Well, I do. It's the Calvert Coat-of-Arms, right?
It is? I just thought it was gay. VERY gay...
...which I guess would make it the Pervert Coat-of-Arms, right?
"THE SPIRIT OF THE IDF"
Me too...
Really, though, the picture tells a pretty complete story.
I don't know what you've been watching, but from what I have seen and numerous other FReepers have reported, the coverage of the major US news networks and print media (e. g., AP) has been pro-Islamist, anti-Israel. We have seen a lot more of the "dead and bleeding Lebanese" than Katyusha damage in Israel, and the reporters' biases are evident more often than not. As for al Jazeera, what would you expect? I'm not surprised by any of this anti-Israeli, anti-American bias in the MSM because it has been going on for decades.
Interesting video; I wonder if the IAF was using drones to keep an eye on where that rocket launcher went?
As the old proverb goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."
anti-aircraft weapons mounted on trucks were being used against our units in Iraq and Afganistan.
They are very effective against armor. You don't know what you are writing about.
"This is clear evidence that Hezballoh was firing rockets in civilian areas."
No doubt about it - its just counterproductive to show pictures of anti aircraft and call them rockets and cannons
That's why they keep trying to figure out a new translation.
In any case, Maryland is now suffering the fate of any blue state. Even though we currently have a Republican Governor, Bob Ehrlich, the State House is run by the Democrats, and they have zero respect for the man, or his threatened vetoes.
They passed the "Walmart Bill" over his veto, and it was then thrown out of court.
They stymied his campaign plank of supporting slots for the income, since we are surrounded by states which have them. If their pet poodle takes the Governorship, they'll probably bring in the slots, just to rub salt in the wound.
Living expenses are very high here, principally because we have more than our share of government workers, and dole non-workers. New houses going up across the street from me are advertised to sell beginning at $600,000.
All that said, Maryland can be a pleasant place to live during most of the year. The Chesapeake Bay is a marvelous treasure and resource. The Severn River offers boating and sailing all year around, and the Naval Academy is at its foot.
Depending on the style of living you choose, this can be a very pleasant place to do it. For most parts of the country, be prepared for sticker shock, especially with property and income taxes.
*shrug* I've got a hundred year old decrepit crackerbox 1000 sqft house that just appraised for $550K.
"course I'm in the Capitol of Silicon Valley...
