Another reason not to buy a Ford.
One would think that these mega companies would get it right before selling their product.
This is what happens when you fire 7 out of 10 engineers and expect the remaining 3 to carry the full workload.
My bet(from having worked in the auto industry):
Engineers proposed gold plating on the switch contacts (which would not corrode), but were overuled by some bean counter type wanted to save 2 cents per vehicle.
The three that I have owned (all cars) have served me well.
Another reason to only buy diesel.
Just blew the engine on mine last Saturday. But the main reason I will not buy another Ford is that I saw a thread here on FR indicating that Ford supported the homosexual agenda.
My first car was a 69 Mercury. Ran like a top, easy to work on, powerful as hell.
My second and third cars were Chevys. The first was a hand-me-down stationwagon with constant cooling issues on top of two broken timing chains. The second was an 86 Caprice which, aside from being courted by the thugs in my neighborhood, had cooling system issues. Otherwise, it was a decent vehicle.
I own an 05 Montego now, and I love it. The engine compartment is easy to work in, general maintenance is easy, and the safety features (thanks to Ford's marriage with Volvo) made it a good purchase decision.
Moral of the story is not to believe everything you read. I hear people talk about Found On Road Dead, etc., yet they're spending $1500 for some stupid fix on their VWs or $150 for an oil change on their BMWs. I'll stay domestic, thanks, regardless of who's making the components or assembling the vehicle.
Probably some more of those Made in Mexico Fords. LOL
Bingo!
The other 7 had to be sacrificed on the Union Altar, to keep the lug-nut installers at $25/hr.
My 2002 F150 was in the first recall for the cruise control. I simply disconnected the power cable to the front of the control unit. (That's the first step of the recall notice until they can get enough replacement control units delivered to all the dealerships.)
My first car was a 1964 Ford/Galaxy 500.It was a very good, dependable car but I've been GM ever since!
Wow,it really does come down to that?
That's"The Ford Foundation".They are a bunch of LEFTIST,WACKOS!The IRONY of this is there NEVER would have been a Ford Foundation to support all these LEFTIST WACKOS were it not for good old-fashioned CAPITALISM!!!!!!!!!!!
Did your 69'Merc have the venerable 390 cu.in.V8?
My OJ Simpson White 96 Bronco had a similiar recall. There was a problem getting parts. Once they got them, I called and made an appointment.
As I was checking in the repair manager said, don't bother sitting down, the part would be exchanged before he finished the paper work.
We chatted as he finished. The mechanic told him it was finished, and I went to the pay window. It took longer for the printer to print out all of the stuff than the exchange. There was no charge and I was out of there in about 5-6 minutes.
No, my '69 Merc (Marquis, FWIW) had a 429 cid. 7L engine with dual 4bbl Holley carbs. Got me from Tampa to Tallahassee on one tank (barely), and with a 22 gal. fuel tank, it was a road tank, to be sure.
If you drove that car today, you'd have to make several stops daily just to shake the Priuses out of the air filter!
