>>Has Your Family Planned for a Home Invasion?<<
Of course not - any action taken in response to a home invasion would only be a sponteous result of fear for the lives of the family.

Hmmmm.....there is nothing like living on a high floor in a Manhattan building.
Our doorman can handle anything, and no unauthorized visitors make it in.

I have a really big dog (and he's only still a pup) whose bark is scary as hell. Does that count?

The "It takes a thief" website has some excellent tips on home safety. They even have a couple interactive quizzes.

When I lived down South, we ran the heater when it got cold. But since I've moved up North, I am amazed at the people who WILL NOT turn on the central air when it is over 100 degrees outside. People can die of heat, too.

I have a sign.
"This is a house where a big dog and a big gun lives. If you would like to find out how big, please crawl through the window after dark."

A 9mm Glock within 3 feet of my current location.
Multiple weapons scattered around the house.
Worst case surprise? A weapon to defend ourselves would be only 20 feet away.
My sword is the preferred weapon in case of a home invasion, and that is kept almost within reach of my computer.

Good idea to set up a safe room. Strong door w/ deadbolt. Include a cell phone with charger, flashlight, and a shotgun.

I keep my 45 under my pillow, loaded with hollow points. I pity the fool. My first shot is almost always dead on. Now I just need my concealed carry permit.

I was watching oprah one day and the expert had a good idea. He suggested putting another solid door that is very secure to cut off all the bedrooms from the rest of the house. It makes another safe area that a criminal must break into. He also had another device that you drill into the floor by your front door. It's a bar that prevents a criminal front kicking down your front door.

Has Your Family Planned for a Home Invasion? Not really, beyond normal emergency response (Ruger 9 and Remington 12 Gauge). If they get into our home they've gotten past our first three layers. We have a clear fire plan and well laid out field of fire.
Defense in depth. It's not just for active duty military. Sacrifice non-strategic territory (the front and back yard) for preperation time. If hostile forces make it to my front door without being challenged or eliminated then someone has some 'splainin to do.

Has Your Family Planned for a Home Invasion? No, but we got a camping trip planned. Maybe we can do the home invasion later on.

The article DELIBERATELY omitted an important thing. Availing yourself of your right to self-protection and that of your family by means of deadly force: get a gun.
And join the NRA.
