It's just shocking that India has discovered toxic chemicals in Coke and Pepsi but the American FDA hasn't.

You have no idea how ridiculous you sound.

The fact that the water has peticide before or not is immaterial. If indians choose to drink water laced with pesticide, they don't pay the price they pay for a pepsi or a coke. Second, every ingredient including water is the responsibility of the brand. IF they buy cheap water, don't process it enough, and allow anyone to sell it as Pepsi, it THEIR fault.

You can whine whatever you want, we will ban the drink, point. Besides who are you to tell us that because there is (this presence is not proven) pesticide in the water that people drink, it is justified for coke and pepsi to sell that to us.

Because the Chinese do have several Chinese made drinks. It makes sense for them to get the recipe of the coke syrup. India doesn't have such companies, the ones that existed before like Thums Up, now belong to coke.

Someone suggested that we asked for the ingredients of the syrup because we wanted to throw Coke out and handover the recipe to some Indian competitor.

Good, then you wouldn't care less if we did find that Pepsi and Coke were banned for selling substances unacceptable by Indian standards.

Ban the drink. You haven't solved a damn thing for your people except to ban a foreign company. You keep drinking your filthy water, and peeing and pooping in your rivers, but at least you won't have any Coke cans to blame.

Do whatever the hell you want. Blame whatever foreign devils you choose. Coke and Pepsi aren't importing a pesticide. If you're too dumb to realize that, then keep drinking your poisoned water without a Coke can label.

Let's see how smart that is in the long run.

Well I would have bought into your argument. The only problem is that Pepsi and Coke are the biggest 2 softdrink providers in our market. They are each other's biggest competitors and I have heard of them trying to sabotage each other in India before. The fact is no one else has the clout that these 2 have in the government. There really is no near No. 3. India is not an anti-US country that needs to attack Pepsi and Coke as a symbol of "American hegemony" like the Arabs do.

If like some people say, India wanted to protest America's support for Pakistan, it can blacklist American arms companies that are supplying arms to Pakistant and abr them from participating in Indians contracts which are far more lucrative than the jet deal with Pakistan is. This will effectively cut-off Pakistan from getting arms from Lockheed Martin or Boeing.

India hasn't indirectly arm-twisted the US in the past, people here are concocting conspiracy theories where there are none.

OK. I'll be fair-minded and admit that my gripe with India is that you lot have a great cricket team, where ours is only very good.

You mean to say we are (or would be) suffering if we don't use American products?

You are the one sounding ridiculous.

How does it matter whether American FDA has or hasn't? We have our own FDA and thats whats more important.

I dont understand why you are makeing this a personal issue. If Indians are paying for it then they have a right to safe products.

The problem is that Indian groundwater is so polluted that the cola companies (which use that water) products are equally polluted.

well, not communist, but it's lesser cousin, socialist. Thankfully that policy is being dismantled because Indians are realizing that the socialist policies of the past condemned them to poverty while the new openness is giving many a chance to improve their lot.

Exactly -- the colas use groundwater that is polluted, they may be slightly safer than those, but not much.

I read long ago that some magazine I don't remember which took Pepsi and coke to a lab had them test to find the ingredients and surprised to find curry listed as an ingredient in both but that pepsi had a much larger amount. Doesn't this count for anything in there favor?

"Millions are NOT, NOT dying from drinking Pepsi and Coke."

Since "Millions are NOT dying" from Pepsi or Coke, you now want to try the DDT to see if it can achieve better results?

"And our "god", because He is the only one, has a capital G."

(G)ood for you with a capital "G".

They want us to drink their "Pesti Colas" which even they wouldn't give to their own children to drink and they believe we "third worlders" should take the crappy poisonous shit and not make a sound.

Yeah I know there is only one but many here would be offended if someone (like me) uses a different name for it.
