Watching the Fox panel now. The consensus is that the ceasefire is "weeks" off. From what I have heard from Condi and the Lebanese spokesman, I don't think that will be the case. The Lebanese spokesman said that Lebanon had not rejected the UN resolution, but they wanted some changes.

The wording of the French/US resolution was almost certainly cleared with all the parties, including Hezbollah. It will come up for a vote in the Security Council next week. I think it will pass overwhelmingly. What we are seeing now from Lebanon is some pre-vote posturing. I believe there will be at least a temporary ceasefire by next Sunday.

Morning AB, All.

BIDEN RANT ALERT...

I am so sick and tired of this man, so sick and tired, so very sick and tired.

Hey, here in the swamps of Delaware there are many who are sick of this man and give us a chance we will go to the mat to get him outta there.

See, Sussex county is the largest county in Delaware. Of course there are only a total of THREE counties in Delaware, heh.

The thing is, Sussex has experienced a major population explosion ever since we moved here, a little over three years ago. We are probably part of that explosion now that I think about it. My daughter, her husband and her daughter are soon moving to Sussex county as he is in construction and things are booming so much here that they are desperate for workers. We do, as you might expect, have a major illegal immigrant thing going on here, not that precious Biden worries himself about such matters what with his TV time and everything.

The thing, the new population coming into Sussex are mostly VERY, very conservative, an older crowd, fairly affluent, folks running from PA and in my case, Merryland, desperately trying to escape crippling property taxes, Democratic corruption and generally annoying liberals.

Delaware fights Sussex county tooth and nail. The county is trying to get two more representatives to the state legislature and hey, the liberals up in Wilmington are a nervous wreck. They have exercised every shenanigan to keep Sussex county down but give us time folks. Even the formerly milquetoast Republican party is growing a pair in view of this changing demographic.

Biden is so entrenched in this state's politics. The governor, awful woman, is his personal puppet and this coming fall, Biden's son, Beau, is running for state attorney general. The people of this state are really up in arms over this, so much so that the Governor had to pull Beau's nomination as replacement for the departing Attorney General, a shenanigan Wilmington tried to pull over our stupid eyes. Now Beau has to actually GET ELECTED and I really doubt that he will. We know nepotism when we see it and ole Joe, given a chance, would have his progeny occupying the entire power post of Delaware and take a hint, the people of Delaware are NOT going to have it.

Just a little up front and local look at Joe Biden. My own opinions of course so take it as that. Point being, there is hope.

The day that cheshire-cat smiling politician gets outta there is the day I'm gonna celebrate.

Agree, but I still see Lieberman eking out a win.......... No matter what happens, it is a win-win for us.

I think it would be more of a win, for us (conservatives) if Mr. Lieberman were to lose.

If Lieberman loses it tells the nation, not just the conservative liberals (yeah I know, not many there), but also the mildy conservative liberals, (many) that we cannot tuck our tails, run back home, let Israel handle this for us and hope that Iraq just "turns out alright".

No matter how well we try to hide within our shorelines, the terrorists will find and try to destroy us. I would hope it is not necessary for another 9/11 to occur on our nation, but it just may take something similarily tragic to convince this nation to come together as one and face this absolute truth. We as free people are in a fight for our way of life and some in this country would willingly surrender those freedoms just to "feel" safe.

This (feel safe) is the choice of the hard-core left, but not the choice of the vast majority of free peopleI would hope.

The only difference between the Nazis and Bin Laden's ability to hit the US Homeland is the Nazi saboteurs were caught before they could strike cause we were at a war and watching for it.

HE would of been better off saying "We face a foe with a global reach who fundementally hates our entire lifestyle., political, social and religious." or as Alas! did last week, present it as "Have we forgotten 9-11"? Don't we realize the danger? The way "It's World War 3" is being used is as if Newt means to invade North Korea, Iran, Syria and probably Saudi Arabia the day he is sworn in as President. It presents a false context to the problem. However, I will conced it is working for him. He is suddenly probably the most popular potental 2008 Canidate. People keep telling me how great he is.

He is Pro life as well isn't he?
Wouldn't being pro-Life, pro-war, pro-Bush,and even religious make him a DINO?

All in all makes for an interesting race, unfortunate but interesting.

But we have our own problems to worry about, we need to keep if not win more seats in Nov.

Never believe the The assessments of August

In USA Today -  Economy, more than war, setting tone for elections.
A battle for control of the most closely divided Congress in 70 years enters its final and decisive phase... But for many voters, the economy appears to have eclipsed terrorism as a top concern. And that has made Democrats more optimistic than they have been in months...

From the Associated Press - Bush's deep investment in midterm elections raises stakes for White House.
President Bush's vigorous campaigning to elect Republicans in November could make the elections a referendum on his presidency........ "If Republicans lose ground in the House and Senate, it'll be a major embarrassment to him," said Gilbert St. Clair, political science professor at the University of New Mexico.

Ryan Lizza of the New Republic - writing in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Bush's political capital may buy him nothing but trouble.

Steve Neal, Chicago Sun-Times - Fate may smile on Democrats
From all indications, this fall's midterm elections should confirm the Judis-Teixeira thesis...  They could win back the House on Nov. 5 and are favored to win key governorships. For the Democrats, happy days may be here again.

Del Ali, writing in the Christian Science Monitor - Deciding the fall elections.
Which side will be successful this November? Polling numbers and historical patterns may provide the best clues.

Well, all of these analyses are from August 2002. And every one of them were wrong on their predictions. Still, they recycle them before every elction. :-)

I think it would be more of a win, for us (conservatives) if Mr. Lieberman were to lose.

Politically, I agree with you. It will further radicalize the Dem party moving them further Left. It will also increase the power of the Moveon.org/Daily Kos crowd, which will force current Dem Congressman to move further Left on the war for fear of being targetted by the radical Left. The further out of the mainstream the Dems become, the better for us.

However, a Lieberman loss could hurt us on achieving our objectives in Iraq as the Dems become more vocal and strident in their opposition to the war. That's not a good thing for the country.

Six years ago he was pro-life in CT when he ran for Senate.
He was pro-choice when he ran for vice president across the nation, standing next to Gore.
He did both simultaneously.

Excellent analysis her MNJ.

I see an additional problem as well.

When the locals do not turn against the terrorist's whether they be Hezzies, Iran brand type, or whatever species of terrorists you are talking about, catching and killing the "last one" is a very difficult task.

This concept also effects the mindset of local terror types as well. As long as they think in their feeble minds that they have the tacit approval of the locals they are hard to stop. Once that ends, its a new ball game.

Look how hard it is in Iraq and we are now getting at least some participation from the locals. My theory is that the locals, whether it be Iran, Syria, Iraq or Lebanon are the answer to eliminating terrorism almost completely.

Once the locals turn against the terror types enough so they are turning them in, it's over for the cheap shot hiding- behind- the- skirts- of- their- mommies terror types. Without that type of participation however it's a tough game and will only be stopped for given lengths of time and then restarted as we have witnessed in the past.

"..the Iran/Syria Axis comes NO where near the US ALONE in Military power."

By my count the USA currently has at a minimum 20 nuclear submarines on patrol at all times. Each one has 24 missiles and each missile has up to 10 warheads. Do the math, 20X24X10=4800 nuclear warheads ready to reign destruction on any number of enemies at any time. These submarines cannot be tracked ands no one has a clue where they are at any given time. This says nothing of the vast armada of war ships and our kick ass air force. Some in this world may think it fun to tweak the tigers tail but they better be careful not to push to hard. The results of a miscalculation are truly unimaginable.

Well, all of these analyses are from August 2002.

August 2002? This does make one smile,(:-)) but I remain just a bit cautious about this November.

I remember exactly what I was doing, and where I was when when the debacle(for the Dems) was unfolding in 1994. A very, very fun night that was.
