Officials Worry That If Hizbullah Decides to Strike U.S., They Can Exploit Existing Network

NEW YORK, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- A handful of money scams uncovered across the United States in recent years bearing Hizbullah's fingerprints have some experts worried that if orders were given to launch a terror attack against the U.S. the means are in place to do so. The FBI has made Hizbullah a central target of its counterterrorism efforts, setting up a unit dedicated to tracking the group and assigning agents to develop sources in Lebanese and other Middle Eastern communities across the country, report National Security Correspondent Dan Ephron and Investigative Correspondent Michael Isikoff in the August 14 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, August 7). Security officials worry that if Hizbullah does one day decide to strike, it can exploit an already-existing network in this country. "You often see in these groups that people who deal in finances also have military backgrounds," Chris Hamilton, who was the FBI's unit chief for Palestinian investigations until last year, tells Newsweek. "The fact is, they have the ability [to attack] in the United States."

Which one: CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN or, perhaps, All of the Above?

But gee, why can't we connect the dots?

Of course we can't allow the government to take action which will single out these terrorists. Afterall, such spy programs might infringe upon my privacy and I don't want anyone else knowing what activities I'm involved in.

That a story like this can even be written is testimony to the insanity of our immigration practices. We import Jihad with our eyes wide open, handing green cards to about a hundred thousand foreign Muslims each year.

Connecting the dots BEFORE the fact, is engaging in racism, jingoism, persecution, and probably would be considered to benefit conservative American values unfairly.

We should make it clear to Iran and Syria that an attack by Hezbollah on US soil will be considered an act of war by Iran and Syria, and that we will go Nuclear.

Terrorist cells have been in the US for years. Merely tracking them isn't going to stop their activites or stop them from attacking us at a moment's notice. Jorge can't close the border. ICE can't find an illegal in a protest march. Islamic activites and suicide bombers in OK, but move along there's nothing to see. I don't have much confidence on the government.

I agree.

Better now than .... whenever. God knows who will be our President, Vice President and Sec Def after 2008.

I believe in freedom of religion, but tend to make an exception for islam. I can think of no other religion that teaches to kill infidels and Jews. There are no moderate muslims. They just don't have the desire or the guts to do what they are taught, but always have sympathy for the the terrorists.

I'm frankly not convinced that islam is, in fact a religion. I would love to see some conservative public interest law firm challenge islam's protected status under our Constitution.

WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE?????

Why is any citizen or subject of Iraq, Iran, KSA, Yemen, Syria or Pakistan sojurning in the United States? Every single one should have been sent home after 9/11.

That even more are arriving is beyond comprehension.

I heard Savage comment the other night, after the Seattle Jewish Center murder and shooting, that the police were guarding the mosques and temples, and were targeting any US Citizens with guns doing family or self-protection, quite apart from any revenge attacks on the buildings or muzzies therein.

I hope he's wrong about that if/when we get hit again, especially by several thousand subhuman muslim-islamist-arab terrorists running loose. The police will be overwhelmed. We're the only line of defense America really has, IMO...

"The fact is, they have the ability [to attack] in the United States."

That's precicely why islam needs to be designated a terrorist organization and all muslims removed.

Sure, but they can still stage attacks of the suicide kind, which they seem to prefer. Hizbulla seems to have a more military orientation which means suicide is low on their priority list, but their agents in the US may just go with the suicide thing.

"When terrorists next strike in the U.S. the vigilantism will be swift and ugly."

Oh heck no. The government and homeland security will be all over the place with the FBI and the Courts hauling anyone who even thinks about revenge into its bowels.

I'm afraid the polically correct, open borders, diversity is all mantra has overcome the right to defense on our soil.

I'd look for a martial law scenario in the event of a major attack with confiscation of weapons if they are brandished.
