FBI: Approach Missing Egyptians with Caution (UPDATE: see post # 685)
ABCNews ^ | 08/08/06 | Brian Ross

The FBI has issued an urgent nationwide alert for 11 Egyptian students who entered the United States last week but failed to show up for their courses at Montana State University.

An FBI advisory says there are, at present, no known connections to any terrorist group but that the students are to be "approached with caution" and taken into custody. They "are here illegally and wanted for questioning," the advisory says.

The advisory comes just over a month before the five-year anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.

"This is of very serious concern and is being closely tracked," said Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The FBI says the Egyptians arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on July 29 and disappeared. The advisory says the alert is nationwide but that there is specific concern the Egyptians may be on the Eastern Seaboard.

According to the advisory the 11 missing Egyptians are:

1. Ibrahim, El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed; DOB OF 4/29/1986.

2. El Dessouki, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed; DOB OF 02/21/1985.

3. El Bahnasawi, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali; DOB OF 04/02/1986.

4. Abd Alla, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed; DOB OF 02/15/1984.

5. El Laket, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi; DOB OF 09/01/1986.

6. El Ela, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou; DOB OF 02/02/1985.

7. El Moghazy, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed; DOB OF 08/08/1986.

8. Abdou, Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa; DOB OF 02/25/1984.

9. El Gafary, Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa; DOB OF 07/01/1988.

10.Maray, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed; DOB OF 09/12/1985.

11.El Shenawy, Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad; DOB OF 08/12/1988.

More ominous yet, they threaten to unleash an apocalyptic surprise on us on August 22, the night they believe Mohammed lit up the skies by ascending to heaven from the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Could this be what these Egyptians are up to?

"You would think wherever they are they would be sticking out like sore thumbs!
"

Huh? There are Muslims of all varieties all over the big cities in the US. These guys could have gone to New Jersey and blended in with the rest of the Muslims there.

Maybe you live in some small town, but there are tons of muslims in most cities.

This reads like a potential smoking gun for Bush's fault in the next round of attacks investigated by a "nonpartisan panel". I hope it turns out to be truly nothing.

I was in college from 17 to 21, and grad school from 21 to 24.

These guys are all between 18 and 22.

How's that old for students?

Hi Chena. Indeed pics are needed "if" the public's help is being solicited to find the "students" who have apparently lost their way to Montana from NYC.

I'm certain John Walsh would happily feature them on AMW and in fact, why not all the news shows? I know... civil liberties.

Right, of course and nothing wrong with that at all, but even if we're looking at "average" age where you're straight out high school and not working at all, 22 should never be considered "old" for college!! Good grief!

On a side note, I always thought my mom should go back to college - she's 63 now and I still think she should go back to college. :)

What is 8-22? That is the second time I read a reference to it. Did I miss something while cleaning my house and celebrating my 3 year old's birthday today?!

You mean, "Be on the lookout for El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed Ibrahim, Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed El Dessouki, Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali El Bahnasawi, Mohamed Ragab Mohamed Abd Alla, Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi El Laket, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou El Ela, Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed El Moghazy, Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa Abdou, Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa El Gafary, Mohamed Saleh Ahmed Maray, and Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad El Shenawy" isn't enough to work with?

Sheesh, I've got a headache from all the Mos and Mous and Els and Accchhhs. These guys've got names longer than Spanish nobility.

From the NYPost:

http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/egyptian_students_vanish_in_big_apple_regionalnews_dan_mangan.htm

"Montana State University Provost David Dooley said 17 Mansoura University students signed up for a 32-day cultural-exchange program to intensively study English, learn about Montana history and go on several field trips.

They arrived at JFK on a flight from Egypt on July 29, but only one managed to clear immigration in time to make a connecting flight, Dooley said.

By July 31, five others had arrived in Bozeman, but the rest were unaccounted for."

This is fishy in the extreme: We have only one dupe of a provost regarding the immigration "delays." I think a little investigation will show this story is bunk.
