riprap is little stones all broken up...

Well, well, well. Berkely going to have to contract out that little service to some minority owned rip rap skanks. Now why didn't they allow bidding on that sweet little contract. They charge $7.80 a foot/month for a 39 foot boat, so thats $3650 more or less in revenue they have been forgoing to get the rip rap. I hope it costs them 10 times as much, once the affirmative action contractors show up.

$3650 of rip-rap installed is only about 6-7 dumptruck loads

Indiana cost...that is.

It's stone that they use to prevent erosion. Sometimes you see it in wire bags. It's acts as a bang board for waves rather than a soil shoreline or embankment.

google search anyone?? what is rip rap?

It is material put into a river channel, or along a beach to reduce erosion.

You may have seen old cars tied in the river above bridges, or in corners where the water could wash away the bank.

They have stopped using old cars, but now they use rocks that are in wire containers, to do the same thing.

But if the marina were private, it could decide it does not wish to associate with the Scouts, just as the Scouts do not wish to associate with homosexuals

No it doesn't. Just as privately owned bars and restaurants are having to close because it has no right to decide to associate with smokers or non smokers. The government decides all that for us now. We as citizens have no decisions to make. Go to work, pay your taxes. /s

I wonder if they require people who drop their boat in for the day or rent berths to be non-discriminatory too.

Good heavens! There could be skin heads, anarchists, racists, child molestors or even Ted Kennedy docking there. And none of those folks supply any rip-rap.

Definitely before anyone docks there, a crew needs to go out and get a political statement then run it by a committee.

Seventy years ago the city began giving the Sea Scouts a free berth at its marina in exchange for rip-rap from a Scout-owned quarry.

Then its not a free berth, if they have to exchange rip rap to get it.
