LOL - Four weeks from this coming Sunday, I will be in Reliant Stadium attending a Texans game. And I will have been home for almost a week by then.

Just in time for Labor Day! Hope we aren't having a hurricane at the time. At least I've got most of my hurri-kit done. The junk food is luring me, however. Stuff I never, ever eat - potato chips, Twinkies. All sitting there tempting me. Especially the Twinkies.
I got home on leave two days before Katrina hit last year. Was there for the whole influx of Louisianans. Spent some time volunteering at the Dome. (I was mostly a "personal shopper" - helping people select clothing and shoes and stuff at Reliant Center. I loved helping the little kids pick stuffed animals and toys.
I was there when Rita set her sights on us and Houston went into shutdown mode.
I pray that this year's visit home will be much less eventful. ;-)

I pray the same. I've worked with hurricane victims for 9 years and last year was the first time I couldn't. I'm too sick and homebound now. I could've been a Rita victim if she had come in the way she acted like she was going to. I was quite scared. And I'm a storm-lover. Not that time!
Got my fixin's to make schawermas and tzatziki yesterday morning and just as I was getting ready to start, we had a thunderstorm. Shut down the puter and realized I hadn't printed off the recipes, so it was a no-go. Will do today, if the crick don't rise.

(IsraelNN.com) IDF officials admit that the biggest surprise of the ongoing war against Hizbullah is the ease by which terrorists have destroyed IDF tanks.
At least 30 tanks have been totally destroyed or seriously damaged in bomb and anti-tank rocket attacks involving state-of-the-art Russian anti-tank rockets.
About one-half of the military personnel killed in southern Lebanon were inside tanks.
