Time to change the laws on disposable cell phones so everyone will have to give name, address bank account or credit card number, etc before one gets a service.
Congress should be doing stuff like that instead of passing stupid laws on protecting dogs during hurricanes.

What about portable computers that have wifi connections? Should those be registered too?

"give name, address "

Heck they don't even need that to vote.

Sorry, but this idea is wrong. We need to stop proposing solutions that involve reducing our own freedoms. Instead, we need to take the attitude that our smallest liberty or smallest convenience is worth more than the lives of every member of Al Qaeda, every member of every other jihadist organization, every supporter of these organizations, and every sympathizer with these organizations. Instead of inconveniencing ourselves, we need to kill them and keep killing them until none are left or until the remaining few surrender. That's a hard position to take, but we have freedom today because the Americans who came before us took that attitude. If we want to pass freedom to future generations, we have to take the attitude that the smallest freedom is worth more than the lives of all of those who would do things that would threaten any freedom.

When the government is given new powers in the name of fighting "crime" or "terrorism", how often does it use them for the stated purpose?

I have a Boost Mobile phone, it's a PrePaid cell phone with the built in NEXTEL walkie talkie feature, and while I don't remember all the info I gave them while I activated the phone, they do have my name, date of birth, and probably my home address as well.

The problem isn't in the giving of a name, address, or other info, even if it's all required how is it proven all of that is valid?

Mohamed can give the name Joe Smith, Sam Brown, John Q Public, or any other name, and address of 123 Main St Anytown USA, and any other info that may be required, but how do they know it's all valid?

And the whole idea behind the Pre Paid cell phone is that those that don't have a credit card, those that may not even have a bank account, can still get a cell phone without having credit, without having to agree to a long term contract that they have to make monthy payments. Most months I only spend $20 or $30 for my cell phone, not the $50+ I was paying when I had a contract with my last cell phone...

More laws that will not be enforced is not the problem. Enforcing the laws that are already on the books is the problem.

Muslim terrorists will get around a registration process sooner or later. In the UK, cops can arrest on suspicion when the nation's safety/public safety is at risk. They don't need a warrant. Time to adopt that here. Two women among those arrested in the UK, one worked at Heathrow with an all access pass.

They profile in the UK, but Melanie Phillips, who wrote Londonistan, was on Rush yesterday, and said the UK has given in to Muslims time and time again. Weaseling, apologizing, worrying that they'll be considered bigoted if they say Islam is a killer cult. She worries that this is going on here, too. Saw on Drudge yesterday, The Sun newspaper, that the sister of one of the arrested UK Muslims says he visited Galloway many times, that they're great pals Galloway denies this of course. I wonder how Galloway would have felt if the plane plot had worked and several thousand people had died. They should strip Galloway of his govt. position and throw him in jail.

Wrong. Time for Americans to dial in a new mindset. This stuff is going to keep getting worse until we take responsibilty and throw political correctness out the window. We are fighting a war I thought. In World War 2 they interned the Japanese. No problems. We cannot have people running around our country assembling bombs to use against us. We must get serious or we will be killedby our inaction. Begin the sweeps and roundups now.

So you want to penalize the majority of honest poor and minority folks who have bad or no credit and need a cell phone because of the actions of a few Muslim terrorists?
