Anti-war demonstrator Cindy Sheehan was undergoing a minor gynecological procedure Friday evening in a hospital where she was also being treated for dehydration and exhaustion, friends and relatives said.
Sheehan was listed in stable condition at Providence Health Center in Waco. Brenda Mauk, a nursing supervisor, declined to release additional information.
Sheehan was taken to the Waco hospital after friends picked her up Friday afternoon at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, where she arrived after spending several days in Seattle at the Veterans for Peace Convention, said Tiffany Burns, Sheehan's friend.
Sheehan, who has been on a liquid diet as part of the nationwide "Troops Home Fast" hunger strike, was treated and released from a Seattle emergency room Thursday night. On doctors orders, she ate for the first time in about 37 days, Burns said.
When she arrived in Texas, Sheehan, 49, was pale and tired, Burns said.
Sheehan's sister, Dede Miller, said Sheehan also had been experiencing heavy bleeding so doctors in Waco performed a dilation and curettage, in which the lining of the uterus is scraped, and were doing a biopsy.

Someone pointed out that Sheehan had been treated the night before at a Seattle hospital. Sounds to me like she was doctor shopping for a doctor who would prescribe some media coverage.

Originally, the doc thought he was going to have to pull her head out of her ass, but discovered that she had missed.

What is the purpose of "fasting" if you run to the hospital to be hydrated?

This is a riot. Sheehan's PR people told her she needs to lose some weight for the cameras so she turns it into a hunger fast. A regular Mahatma Sheehan. THEN, due to her own self-inflicted wounds she ends up in a hospital (could it be karma that her problems are gynecological?) This is a media event, all right. A comedic farce.

She's FORTY-NINE flippin' years old!!! She's probably having some pre-menopausal flooding, and used it as an excuse to go to the hospital and get yet more publicity.
