The Man Who Predicted 9/11
SOONER Magazine ^ | 08/15/2006 | Anne Harp

Posted on 08/15/2006 3:47:31 PM PDT by Lexington Green

“Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid.”—Raymond Chandler, “The Simple Art of Murder”

A kind of shorthand had developed between fellow OU alums Rick Rescorla and Fred McBee during their 30-year friendship. When one of them quipped Raymond Chandler’s famous quote on the detective hero, they both knew what it meant: Sometimes, you have gather your courage and just do what needs to be done.

It's well worth the watch--I've seen it a few times.

This channel typically reruns their shows about 3 hours later, so you might check your listings.

I'm skeptical of people that claim this AFTER the fact.

Not to discount the sacrifice that he made, it honestly sounds like Dan pointed out every likely vulnerability and Rick Rescoria's main point is in a) asking questions, and b) following through.

In the case of Rick Rescorola, he died in the WTC on 9/11/01, so any claiming being done after the fact is being done for him. He was a genuine hero on 9/11. Rescorola was the chief of security for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Many eyewitnesses related how he got all but a few of MSDW's 2000+ employees out before the tower collapsed. He could have gotten out many times but never did.

The story goes something along the lines of after the first WTC attack in 1993, Rescorola expected there to be a bigger and worse attack.

Don't have a VCR or DVR? If you do, watch the game, record the Rescorla show. Worth the effort, IMHO. I don't have it on tape, but I've seen it, more than once.

However, Historychannel.com shows it on again at 11 PM central, at least in the Central time zone. YMMV depending on your time zone. For example it's on at 8PM Pacific time in that zone.

If you get a chance, you really should watch. Rick Rescorla died in the collapse of one of the towers. But, ever since the first attack in 1993 he'd been preparing for this, and his efforts saved the lives of the people who worked in his company.

Rest in Peace. He did a wonderful job. I wish that he could have survived.

As do we all. However he had cancer, and might not have survived all that long even absent the tablecloth-heads attack. I think he went out the way he would have wanted to go.

Hard on his wife, though. She was watching when the plane hit his tower, and when it fell.

Possibly, his fatal mistake was thinking that since his tower was hit second, it would be the second to fall. It wasn't.

Thanks for posting that, and the one below it. Brings a tear to the eye, and a big grin to the face. Mine anyway.

There are several people on this forum that predicted that they would strike the towers again. They stated the Deathcultists would strike for many reasons. Mine was because the city of Ney York thought it was funny to have a female go on world wide television and call Islamofacists the dumbest terrorists ever. Several members agreeded. I need to find that post...

Rick Rescorla was one of Hal Moore's platoon leaders in the Ia Drang battle, dramatized in We Were Soldiers. His nickname was "hard core." He was a hero in two walks of life.
