New Jersey Attorney General Resigns Over Ethics Violations

New Jersey's attorney general resigned Tuesday after a special prosecutor concluded she violated state ethics laws by intervening in a traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

Zulima Farber, who will step down at the end of the month, said she is leaving office "out of respect for the governor" and not because she was asked to do so.

"I admit to being human and making that error. I am truly sorry and apologize to all New Jerseyans for that mistake," said Farber, who appeared at a Statehouse news conference alongside Gov. Jon S. Corzine.

Farber's live-in boyfriend, lawyer Hamlet Goore, was pulled over by police in Fairview for a traffic violation in May, and Farber showed up at the scene in her state car. Goore's van was found to be improperly registered and his license appeared to be suspended, but he was allowed to drive home.

In recent weeks, Farber denied doing anything to influence the police. But a special prosecutor appointed by the governor said in a report issued Tuesday that Farber violated state ethics laws by "approving actions which allowed Mr. Goore to drive his vehicle home."

"The attorney general knowingly acted to secure a benefit for Mr. Goore that was violative of the motor vehicle laws and obviously not available to the general public," Richard J. Williams wrote in his report.

Corzine met with Farber earlier in the day and asked her to make a decision on whether to resign. He said he accepted her resignation "with sadness and respect."

"She has decided to do more than would be ordinarily required for a lapse in judgment," the governor said.

Corzine appointed Farber to the state's top law-enforcement post upon taking office earlier this year.

One crook down, about a few hundred more to go in the Garden State. And their state government doesn't smell like roses!

Well, a few hundred appointed crooks, at least. Then there's the governor and most of the state legislature. And quite a few "civil servants"...

Maybe I really meant THOUSANDS.

Which one is Farber? They're both too ugly to have a live-in boyfriend.

Gee, can't find what party the AG belongs to. It certainly must have been an oversight on the part of the reporter...right!

What a pair of lovelies! In my worst nightmare, which one of or both do I wake up with one on each of my shoulders and, when I decide to start gnawing, discover that my dentures are in a glass of water on the nightstand. That's when I start screaming.

Mercifully though, when I was ever drunk enough to do something this stupid, I passed out!!!

The words "ethics" and "New Jersey" don't belong in the same sentence.

Sure they do, as in "Every Democrat politician in New Jersey lacks ethics."

This from the New York Times Terrorist Tip Sheet's article on the Farber resignation:

Three years ago, Gov. James E. McGreevey considered her a candidate for a State Supreme Court vacancy, but never went forward with a nomination after he learned of her troubled driving record.

When even McGreasy won't appoint someone, you KNOW they are ethically challenged. Her driving record includes 12 speeding tickets, 4 bench warrants and 3 license suspensions, according to the paper. Definite material to be the state's chief law enforcer, wouldn't you say?

"I admit to being human and making that error. I am truly sorry and apologize to all New Jerseyans for that mistake," said Farber...exactly the same BS she spouted when asked about her 12 speeding tickets/4 bench warrants before she entered government - yet Corzine appointed her anyway - when you're actually rewarded for making "mistakes", is it any wonder you don't see any problem with others making the same mistakes?.......

Among her specialties is attorney ethics.

..as the story goes, the real story, the car thing is the clean top of the iceberg, supposedly she had numerous bank accounts..(secret bank accounts)..with millions with no explanation...and corny corzine says he'll accept her leaving with sadness and respect. Yeah over tickets and driving troubles......she should be in jail!!

The answer to NJ is already in the federal statutes. If there were any balls in the offices of Attorney General of the United States, this government (as well as most local and county) could be shut down and the whoring thieves in Trenton brought in on charges under the RICO Act. If there are ten people in any part of any governing body in the state not guilty of being a part of a Racketeering, Influence and Corrupt Organization, I'd be shocked.

The sole purpose of government in this state is to enrich the politicians, developers and unions
