“Nextel Knights: the Ballad of Jeremy Elliott” has come to a merciful end as I type this on Wednesday. Elliott Sadler replaces Jeremy Mayfield in Ray Evernham’s #19 Dodge, effective immediately. Does anyone really care? If you blended that #19 and Yates’ #38 together, it’s doubtful that you could come up with a car capable of running in the top ten this year. Meanwhile, over at Robert Yates Racing, it looks like David Gilliland will become the new Candy Man at Michigan, while Jeremy Mayfield enjoys a lengthy vacation before reporting to work at Bill Davis Racing for the 2007 season. We wish everyone well in those new positions as we ponder another question. What prompts a team to put all of its money on a rookie so raw that he is only a part-timer in the Busch Series while a veteran of Cup racing and Daytona 500 winner, Ward Burton is told that he can drive a Yates car…only if he brings a sponsor with him? File that under things that make your stomach queasy.

Speaking of RYR, how many times now has crew chief Todd Parrott left that organization and “come home” again? It’s at least three and possibly four…and he’s been crew chief on both the #38 and the #88. Does anyone but me suspect that someone over there might be a tad difficult to work with?

I have a strange golf career myself.

I have a couple of "holes in one" stories I could tell that are funny.

Do you think Ray had a special car lined up for him? I think Riggs got the dog car this week.

Don't get me wrong I love the Candyman but Ray is another story. I see Jeremy has a ride for 07 he may be on an extended vacation.

I missed qualifying today. Dropped my current wife off at Bear River Casino and I went on to Ferndale to check out my friend's new Feed and Farm Store. His grandfather started the business in 1896 and one of his sons is the general manager of the new store...

Coulda started an earthquake. LOL

Hmmmmm....

Sadler quals second (I was rooting for da PP!) first time out for new team.

Wonder what Jeremy is thinking?

I know what DJ is thinking..."good car, good qual position. Crap car, crap qual position."

Glad to see Burton on the pole!

If I'm not mistaken, one of the articles I posted said Yates offered something to Ward, but he had to come up with his own sponsor.

Gilliland who won one Busch race didn't have to bring anything.

Burton has really been on a roll. Just proves when you have a good setup and good engines you can be competitive no matter what your age is.

Yep, Robert said that several times. Does not make sense to me. Other than to prove that the $$ controls everything. If RYR was smart, they would get Ward, then go shopping for a sponsor. I think the "lack" of performance by some of the "Young, young Guns" can't be ignored much longer.

Here's a giggle for ya....(Charleston.net)...Sadler on joining his new team...

"I'm getting used to all the guys, working together, getting our language together.."

I wonder how many interpreters REM had to hire.

Maybe Ward wanted so much money that Yates said fine if you bring a money pot?
