Message from Mayor Lou Barletta (Mayor of Hazelton, Pa.)
email | 8/17/06

Posted on 08/17/2006 1:01:26 PM PDT by stevio

On July 13, 2006, the City of Hazleton made history.

City Council passed an ordinance that intends to make Hazleton one of the toughest places in the country for illegal aliens by fining landlords who rent to and companies who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

After suffering through several high-profile crimes involving illegal aliens, we've sent a clear message that we've had enough. Hazleton is working to take back our streets, our neighborhood, and our community.

But there are those who are trying to stop us.

Several groups have come forward to say Hazleton doesn't have the right to protect itself.

They've said that suing Hazleton will prevent other elected officials across America from enacting similar laws in their own towns.

Some in those groups have also boasted they will take us to court and bankrupt the City of Hazleton, both to punish us for enacting this ordinance and to send a signal to other communities across the United States.

We're not going to be bullied.

That is why we created the City of Hazleton's Legal Defense Fund.

We believe our ordinance is legal. We believe it will stand up to judicial scrutiny. And we are willing to take the fight to save our city to the highest courts in America.

We need your help.

Your contribution will help us win this fight.

To help, send a check or money order to: City of Hazleton Legal Defense Fund, c/o Mayor Lou Barletta, City Hall, 40 N. Church St., Hazleton, PA 18201.

To use a credit card, log on to www.smalltowndefenders.com and follow the directions provided.

Take a stand and join the fight for Hazleton.

If they stop Hazleton, they may stop your community next.

Become a Small Town Defender.

These Illegal Aliens have no standing in court and those who are advocates for them are in violation of federal law.

What is seldom mentioned, is that the ACLU gets paid by OUR government to work on these cases, because it's considered a civil rights case.

And many judges and current law-school grads are their fellow-travelers.

I just want to know why the phony immigrants and criminal aliens don't use their REAL ID?

I consider it another failure of our Republican controlled congress.

Because their criminal background in their native country would be revealed.

"These Illegal Aliens have no standing in court and those who are advocates for them are in violation of federal law."

Tell that to a Federal judge who follows the dictates of the ACLU. Many do and believe me the ACLU "shops" for them.

That's why the ACLU must be sued in a civil suit under the expanded RICO statutes that allow for private citizens to bring forward a suit against those in violation of Section 8 USC 1324. I contacted the ACLJ but they weren't interested.

And then they complain that taxpayer money is being spent to defend the suit. That's their M.O.: Sue a jurisdiction and then argue that it's a waste if they don't immediately capitulate. Just happened here in Houston.

Of all things that need immediate change, why can't the public defunding of the ACLU happen????

"These Illegal Aliens......"

But, but, but,......these "undocumented immigrants" are just doing the jobs that Hazelton residents won't do. Better life....feed their families...yadda, yadda, yadda.
(It's sarcasm folks)

Just wrote a check for $100. Best money I've spent for quite some time.
