This is a hopeful sign. And maybe Ben Cardin's promise to cure cancer didn't help him.

Obviously they polled Baltimore and Prince Georges County home of the Queasy voters.
I guess these people didnt learn from the Cynthis McKinney fiasco, they want to put a racist POS in the Senate.
Go Steele.

The Dems have a Catch 22 going on:
If Cardin wins the primary black Dems may stay home, or spit their vote, handing the race to Steele.
If Queasy wins the primary scared white moderate Dems and Indies may put Steele over the top.

Hopeful? It's downright promising! The big Mo must be with Steele, and if he seems normal at election time, some blacks may just flip his way more than usual.
To: NeoCaveman
Do not underestimate the vote fraud.
Even so, I give Steele 40% chance that he will win this, and that is unusually high for a Republican in a MD Senate race.

I wouldn't count on Mfume to pull a McKinney. I know he's said nutty things in the past, but he's not stupid, and he's been very, very sensible since he started running for Senate. He was the first Democrat to denounce the Steele 'Simple Sambo' deal.
Not saying I wouldn't rather run against him, but don't count on him to implode.
To: zbigreddogz
I dont expect him to implode, I expect enough Marylanders to be sensible enough to elect Steele.
Of course it will have to be a lot of folks who arent from Prince Georges, Montgomery or Baltimore counties that wil have to do it.
Simply stated will the racists elect a racist or elect a man that is above that.

In the latest Rasmussen Reports poll of the competitive U.S. Senate contest in Maryland, Republican Lt. Governor Michael Steele slightly trails each Democratic contender. Congressman Ben Cardin (D) leads Steele 47% to 42%. Former NAACP President Kweisi Mfume (D) leads the Republican 46% to 44% (see crosstabs). This sets the stage for a closely fought general election no matter which Democrat wins the September 12 primary. This race is listed as Leans Democrat in our Balance of Power summary. That would change to Toss-up if Mfume wins the primary. The states Governors race is also competitive.
It looks like Steele has a good shot at this race, regardless of who wins the primary. I had heard that if Mfume loses to Cardin, this favors Steele even though this poll shows that Steele fares slightly better against Mfume. Any Marylanders have a feel for this race??

I'm a NoVa guy following this race. I'd rather see Steele run against Mfume than Cardin.

Mfume commonly known as Frizzel Grey will not win. He has been pandering to the black muslim/muslim population in Maryland and that will not fly with the home folks.
Mike Miller's effort to lock the election for the 'RATS by multiple day voting was thrown out.
I predict a (close) win for Steele unless Baltimore City's voting machines get clever again like they did when Sauerbray ran for Gov.
