President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists that nuclear power is Iran's right and "no one will stop us" developing the country.
In an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper, he said a United Nations resolution insisting on the suspension of its nuclear activities was U.S.-inspired and would fail.
"They are trying to deny our right to develop nuclear power. But no one can impose anything on the Iranian people. They will not succeed," he said while on a campaign tour of the north of his country.
"Our main task is to develop and build the Iranian nation. No one will stop us."
Iran has insisted it is enriching uranium to generate electricity from nuclear power. The United States, Britain, France and Germany among others fear it is a cloak to disguise a program to build nuclear weapons.
The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution at the end of July calling on Iran to suspend uranium enrichment by August 31.
Iran has set itself an August 22 deadline to respond to an offer of economic incentives designed to persuade it to comply with the suspension demand.
Yes, Condi is the water-carrier.
I'm not sure he's wrong.
If the Dems had any brains they could play this to their advantage.
Yeah, yeah. It's funny. But his size means nothing really.
Just remember Napoleon.
Boy, blue-eyed boy ...... that sure is a straight line.
;-)
Little man, little feet...you know the rest.
Some of the best threads on FR in times like these, IMHO, were ones where FReepers tried to go a little off (a serious)topic by changing it just a little. Your post reminds me of some of those.
One Freeper started a "song" style thread, concerning what song or songs would you like to be the "last song" ( and I don't mead the "Edward Bear", almost open a vein everytime I hear it, "Last Song", song,) that our enemies would hear before the USAF "redecorates" places like Iran.
I tried to think of songs with say 30 seconds of play before the "festivities" would start. Say on EVERY possible TV and radio in Iran( or where ever)were able to be hijacked in YOUR control 30 seconds before the USAF bombing started. What songs ( at the at least 100db level) would you like to have played???
Here are five of mine. 30 seconds of LOUD play after which the "dogs of war" would be unleashed while the rest of the song(s) play.
IMHO, Ol' Abberjabber needs to hear these:
#1. "Twilight Zone" - Golden Earing
#2. "Hells Bells" - AC-DC
#3. "I Wouldn't Wanna Be Like You" - Alan Parsons Project
#4. "One Way Or Another" - Blondie
#5. "I Wanna Be Sedated" - The Ramones
Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread or the like, just trying to fill the time while we are "waiting" for "Aug 22". Thanks !!
I agree...... by the way:
Somerset Maugham (my favorite writer) used that tool in his writing. I love it.
He'd write something like; "I was not sure that Mary was unattractive."
He used the double negative so well.
****
I was not sure that her appearance was unpleasant.
LOL
Her kindness to me was not unappreciated.

It allows one to say something more softly than otherwise.
Oh well ...............
Perhaps that explains why the Frogs like him.
LOL......... August 22nd...... I went out and bought 200 cans of tuna fish and 100 cans of kidney beans yesterday. Oh, ....... and two huge bags of cat food.
;-)
Actually, he believes he is the tool of God attacking the godless...never forget that - I'm not saying that he is, but that he BELIEVES he is. He BELIEVES Heaven is smiling on what he is doing. He BELIEVES he is righteous.
It's that belief that makes him all the more dangerous.
What happens in the way of radiation fallout when a Nuke site is bombed? Does it become another Chernobyl (or worse)? Who goes in to clean up the mess?
I think Rice's shift of responsibility to the UN was a wise move. Our administration knows that whatever agreements are brokered by outsiders, they will be broken and hostilities will resume. So, to eliminate making another blunder in the Mideast, this one can be blamed on the UN.
What is your solution? Keep threatening to do something or bomb the crap out of them? We will have to deal with the fallout whether it's on our soil or theirs. I would prefer it is on theirs.
Neither one will accomplish anything worth doing.
Both represent ineffective blustering.
He's absolutely correct in thinking that. But he's dead wrong (pun most assuredly intended) if he thinks that *nobody* will fight.
This Iranian biotch is firmly convinced that he is a tool (i agree, he is a "tool") to be used to bring about the 12th Iman and bring about some sort of Islamic revelation. I wonder if he plans to make the announcement of possession of a nuclear warhead as many of us anticipate or if he plans to be dining on dates and nuts while hitting lardass Iranian virgins in paradise come the 23rd. I'm morbidly curious to see just what the 22nd of August will bring. In the mean time, I'm hoping for the best while preparing for the worst.
Interesting New Yorker Magazine article by Seymour Hersh. (He was interviewed by CNN last week.) Hersh's inside the admin. sources told him Bush wasn't completely in favor of giving Israel a free hand attacking Hezbollah/invading Lebanon. But Cheney and the Neocons were highly supportive because they viewed this mini-war as a softening up/prelude to the main event, the US attack on Iran to take place in the New Year. (Hersh wants congress to investigate -- and Cheney's head on a platter.)
Oooh! One ugly fish ........ or is that D. Hannah in "Splash"?
