President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insists that nuclear power is Iran's right and "no one will stop us" developing the country.
In an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper, he said a United Nations resolution insisting on the suspension of its nuclear activities was U.S.-inspired and would fail.
"They are trying to deny our right to develop nuclear power. But no one can impose anything on the Iranian people. They will not succeed," he said while on a campaign tour of the north of his country.
"Our main task is to develop and build the Iranian nation. No one will stop us."
Iran has insisted it is enriching uranium to generate electricity from nuclear power. The United States, Britain, France and Germany among others fear it is a cloak to disguise a program to build nuclear weapons.
The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution at the end of July calling on Iran to suspend uranium enrichment by August 31.
Iran has set itself an August 22 deadline to respond to an offer of economic incentives designed to persuade it to comply with the suspension demand.

"Our main task is to develop and build the Iranian nation. No one will stop us." "Our main task is to develop and build the Iranian nation so we can nuke Israel off the face of the earth along with the UK and USA."
"No one will stop us."
Wrong.

That's pretty freakin' crazy.
Did you just come up with that, or has it been around before?
It should be required viewing for anyone who needs a good laugh.

I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that Rice has been the linchpin at the center of the recent debacle in Lebanon. Despite historical evidence that the UN approach has always been a quagmire to US interests, she has somehow become convinced that the way to solve the Middle Eastern situation is through them and look what has happened.
She permitted France to strut and prance about and present themselves to the world as an equal partner to the US in jointly "solving" the Lebanese crisis, thereby giving them the appearance of world power influence out of all proportion to their real clout.
In order to get Rice to go along, France grandiosely promised 15,000 troops to police the buffer zone between Israel and Hezbollah if only Israel would withdraw it's forces and retreat. After Israel did so, France immediately scaled it's troop commitment back to 200 - who will probably be located in a safe location somewhere in Beirut. France snookered Rice.
Israel now faces an emboldened enemy which is rapidly being expanded and rearmed and which will, in short order, move right up against the Israeli border in anticipation of Round 2 of this war.
In turn, Israel, under Olmert's incompetent leadership, comes out of this the clear loser - it didn't get it's kidnapped soldiers back, it didn't get Hezbollah disarmed and it has convinced the Arab world that it can now be beaten.
Meanwhile, Rice has also permitted the US to go along with the UN "sanctions" approach to Iran - which is a meaningless gesture and assures Iran of acquiring nuclear weapons in short order.
Rice has been badly outmaneuvered on the world stage and while Bush will get the blame, she has been the one most responsible with providing him with the advice which has shaped the current disastrous policy approach.
The only way to reverse the present drift is for Bush to issue an ultimatum to Iran - stop developing nukes or face military action. However, I'm afraid that the resulting clamor from the Bush hating MSM, his low poll numbers and the short time that he has left in office has ruled out any such actions on his part.
