Lynn Cheney: Condi Rice for President?

The idea of a woman president is not so abstract now that the 2008 election nears, Lynne Cheney, wife of vice president Dick Cheney said Wednesday.

"If you're thinking of Condi Rice, I think she has good credentials," Cheney said.

During an appearance sponsored by the Aspen Institute, Cheney talked mostly about education and history but did venture into current politics, including the possibility of women running for president. She did not mention New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, widely thought to be considering a presidential run in 2008.

"(National security) is the driving issue," Cheney said. "The stereotype exists that women are softer. Maybe it's not true. I don't think it's true. But it's a little bit of a challenge to overcome for a woman president."

I meant when she said she would not run for senate.

Of course she's a liar, btw.

Sorry. "Green Tambourine" was their only hit, was it not?

It's an old line we used to use in radio. Didn't mean to confuse. :)

"Condi allowed herself to be snookered by the French over the M.E. cease-fire."

I don't know her position on this issue, as she is not the Chief Executive. Therefore this may not be a valid statement.

The buck does not stop with her. If one agreed with the characterization, this would be a more valid sentence; "Bush allowed himself to be snookered by the French over the M.E. cease-fire.", because I know he is the Chief Executive and he made the final call.

Executing on decisions that one may not agree with is common for sub-Chief Executive managers.

I think she's cleverer than we know at this moment - also, she's working under GWB's orders, so it's hard to say what's her and what's him. She was actually pretty "nuanced" (a word I hate, but one that has its uses) during the failed Israeli response - that is, she said things that held off the dread "world opinion," was obviously negotiating like mad with non-Hez friendly Muslim governments behind the scenes, and gave the Israelis every chance they needed. They blew it, or possibly, on the basis of antiquated information, they didn't realize the challenge. In any case, I thought she did the best she could with a bad situation and what turned out to be a less powerful ally than we had thought.

I like her, but I really couldn't vote for her unless she became less pro-abortion. I don't know why she - as a black woman - would be pro-abortion, since blacks are the primary target of the Margaret Sanger Eugenicist League (aka Plannned Parenthood), but she is, and I think it would make it difficult for many other folks to vote for her.

So abortion is the only issue that qualifies one to be President of the United States? Interesting concept.

They peaked in the Bubblegum era of 67-71. I'm not sure how many "hits" they had. back then, a song could be released regionally, in Memphis say, and not in Cleveland. if it did well in the "test market", then a national release was possible. Some songs were regional hits but not in other regions........

And Lynne Cheney is a bit beyond the "pundit" level. I'd eagerly vote for Condi. I love to imagine a Condi vs. Hillary race . . .

Maybe because she knows that brilliant careers like hers can easily be de-railed by the unplanned, unwanted babies? And that tens of thousands of young black women in this country have had their own potential de-railed this way before they're even old enough to drive?

As a retired General Officer, nothing. As a Secretary of State, many things, as a Republican, he is a RINO.

Who said abortion was the only issue? What I'm saying is that anyone who believes a pro-choice Republican can get into the White House has lost all grip on reality.
