HARTFORD, Conn. (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut earned a spot on the November ballot with a newly created party in his bid to hold on to his seat.

The Connecticut secretary of the state said Wednesday Lieberman submitted 18,000 signatures, more than twice the 7,500 needed to participate in the election, the Norwich (Conn.) Bulletin reports.

The certification means Lieberman -- the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000 and a presidential candidate in 2004 -- will seek re-election under the "Connecticut for Lieberman" party in a three-way race against Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Alan Schlesinger.

Lamont defeated the three-term Lieberman by 10,000 votes in the Aug. 8 primary to win the Democratic nomination.

Before anyone starts the old "Attaboy Joe" nonsense, you know he'll be kissing donkey ass the moment he takes the oath.

It is so amusing to watch the Dims on Lieberman and their squawking. Compare to comments made when Frank Lautenberg was substituted for a looser, or when they ran the wife of the dead guy in Missouri or when they ....

The important thing is that the RATS waste tons of money on their little intramural squabble. Go Joe! Go Ned!

How lame! If Lieberman's going to run under some new party name, I think he should run under the "Kick-the-Rat-Backstabbers-in-the-Teeth" Party.

That is true but we will get a couple of votes out of Joe and none from Lamont. Maybe with Joe not beholden to the dimocRAT party maybe we will get even more votes.

This guy sold out the moment he jumped on the Gore recount nonsense. He only added to his political whoredom when he spent the last few weeks of his last campaign by pounding his chest on how many times he voted against Bush.

I can't believe FReepers even give 2 you-know-whats about this "wounded" opportunist. He'll win, that's for sure, and will back kissing donkey ass the moment after he takes the oath.

Yeah, at least he's not relying on the treasonous MoveOn.org, Democratic Underground, Daily Kos types. That's certainly a plus over his main opposition.

LOL. I think the Dems would barricade the Senate door if he did that.

Go, Joe. Nail the coffin in the looney Demo coffin. Cancel out Chafee's move to the Independent logo in the Senate. One thing I will say for Joe: he gets September 11th.

If Lieberman wins he will continue to vote for: redistribution of worker's paychecks; higher and then even higher taxes; bigger government; restrictions on private property; to keep God out of people's lives; the welfare state; and all of the other socialist measures he and other Democrats have worked for for decades.

Only now Lieberman will be an "Independent." RIIIGGHHHTT!

The last "independent" in Congress was Bernie Sanders of Vermont. He ran as an avowed socialist. During his time in Congress there were over 350 members of the two branches who voted further to the left than Sanders.

That means that to move Congress back toward the center we need to elect more socialists to the House and Senate.

Where am I wrong? Anyone?.

"Where am I wrong? Anyone?."

You're not. He'll drop to his knees and kiss the donkey's ass as soon as he finishes the oath -- 'cause he will win. And the FReepers who laud him now are so naive.

Lamont is meeting with Hillary.

What happens when Lieberman wins? Or is that what Hillary is banking on?

Before anyone starts the old "Attaboy Joe" nonsense, you know he'll be kissing donkey ass the moment he takes the oath.

Will he be seeking to kiss theirs, or vice versa? If the Democrats have to spend their political capital doing favors for Mr. Lieberman, that's political capital they're not spending on worse things.
