Beer magnate Pete Coors pleaded guilty this morning in Jefferson County Court to a lesser charge of driving while impaired in his DUI case.
He made the plea against the advise of his attorney.
County Court Judge James Demlow waived the $200 fine associated with the charge because it was Coors first offense, but sentenced him to 24 hours of community service. Coors also will have to pay minor court costs and attend an education course on alcohol abuse.
Coors attorney, Stephen Higgins, told the judge his client should have fought all the charges.

Of course he should have. If he had told the jury he was drinking his own product, they would never have convicted him.
Eh, I am not about to throw stones.
However, when they have you dead to rights, it's time to confess.
B-S'ing the judge only makes her tired and angry.
Do you want a tired and angry judge passing sentance on you?
From the article, it sounds as though he was driving okay. I wasn't there so I don't know. I think it shows some class to take it on the chin and not fight it.
We toured the Coors factory a couple of weeks ago. Coors is the only beer I drink. I must say that the Coors at the factory was in a whole different league than what we buy around here.
Now I have made myself thirsty. :^)
Coors Light perhaps, but traditional Coors is quite good.
His blood alcohol level was low enough that I doubt it affected his driving. They have lowered the legal blood alcohol percentage so low that many of the people who get DUI's these days aren't even drunk and are not endangering anyone's life. These ridiculous laws have gotten out of hand.
exactly... he was 0.088 percent BAC. He took one (and exactly one) too many sips of beer. Had he deferred for a blood test, he would have passed.
i guess i've never really tried the 6.0.
No, he made the plea against the ADVICE of his attorney. "ADVISE" is a verb. "ADVICE" is the noun.
Or so I learned in second grade, long before I aspired to be a journalist. Pity neither this hack nor his editor did.
No pity here, this guy is a moron.
Exactly. I noticed the same error. Apparently, spell check didn't help this dummy.
