It's probably for psychological reasons, but I make damn sure both cars are at least half full, if not more...after the Northridge earthquake, power was out for days yet I had to commute around the fallen Newhall Overpass, which had become a four hour - each way - ordeal.

Idling half a day sucks it up, and the only place I could get gasoline was out of our valley.

There are always good reasons for filling the tanks. I was making a comment on the impact a consumer action could have.
