This is what you get when you have political unknowns or, as you call them, "blank slates".

For one thing, Bill Clinton was not unknown.

For another, you don't understand me.

Being unknown to the general public is not the same as having no track record. A longtime state legislator with a massive public record is likely to be unknown to the general public.

McBride is apparently well known in political circles, and no one has even doubted his conservative bona fides on abortion, etc, only really immigration as far as I know.

I'd much, much rather have McBride as the nominee and risk him turning out to be only 90% conservative, than have a massively unpopular nominee like Harris (who isn't 100% conservative herself, by the way) continue her meltdown and give Nelson a free pass to a reelection landslide.

Of course he is. He ran against Jeb Bush for Governor. He's very well known as a Democrat.

Oh wait, you mean the ambulance-chaser in the Republican primary? That's a different McBride. He can't possibly be well-known in political circles; he's never held elected office.

Perhaps this one wants people to confuse him with the other one. I don't know why, though. The other one lost.

For one thing, Bill Clinton was not unknown.

Outside of Arkansas, yes he was. The Arkansans wanted him to run for president because it was the only way they could get rid of him. That's not exactly a sterling recommendation.

McBride is apparently well known in political circles, and no one has even doubted his conservative bona fides on abortion, etc, only really immigration as far as I know.

According to Wikipedia: "McBride, an immigration lawyer, has been accused of doing a "flip-flop" on the issue, with proof coming from a recently-added picture of McBride marching in a radical, militant Hispanic amnesty group, as per his opponent, LeRoy Collins Jr.

At the same time, McBride has limited name recognition among Republicans, with 77% claiming not to know enough about him to form an opinion. This is in part due to McBride not deciding to enter the race until the deadline to file as a candidate. There is a rumor that he was hand-picked to challenge Harris for the seat by close, family friend Karl Rove, however, it has not been confirmed. None have criticized McBride for entering a race for such an important position without previous political experience. McBride is 33 years old, has practiced law for only a few years."

None of this is enough to make me throw away a known entity for a "blank slate". I've been down this road before with unknown politicians and it has almost always not turned out well.

If the rumor about Rove turns out to be true, it makes me even more uncomfortable with him. The Bush administration hand-picked Mel Martinez to replace Bob Graham, and look how that turned out. I'm not interested in another Bush administration political pick for FloriDUH - their track record isn't too good.

For another, you don't understand me.

I'm not trying to.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The illegal immigration issue is very important to Floridians.

McBride is well know among the 'open borders' crowd for this:

He marched with the pro-amnesty 'Immigrats United for Freedom' just 2 weeks before filing for the Senate.

LOL! - Yeah, to his mom. And how does "apparently" fit into your statement?
One either is or is not.

-Another wannabe, and no conservative, sir.

As I stated in another post, McBride couldn't beat me in the general election!

Anyone who votes for McBride has just stabbed every single vet who came home under an American flag and gave their all....His walking under a Flag of Mexico holding a sign of a group that is associated with ANSWER..Speaks volumes to me...As a vet I am totally offended that anyone would support this individual over a conservative...I could care less what the other stances he holds...As a vet I only march under one Flag....That is the one that I served under....I could care less what his reason was....He lost his credibility with me....
