I'm not saying I'm an expert but...I'm an expert. Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun. Bad things happen at night. Your must identify the threat. Bad guys don't own Surefires. Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun. Surefire.com Many experts frown on the idea. Makes you a target. I had an Insight on my Sig and took it off. I'll light the target at arms length and get my sight picture.

Good article. Anyone out there who isn't a member of the NRA?

Almost certainly not legal. Plus, you're looking at only 3 rounds, max (plus maybe one up the spout).
The Thunder 5, on the other hand, is legal and lets you mix 410 shot shells and 45 Long Colt.
And if that looks too much like a kludge, how about the BFR 45 Colt/410, from the folks that brought you the Desert Eagle?
Of course, if you feel you need 12 gauge, I prefer the Neostead.
It is set up with two magazines that are selectable, meaning you can switch easily between "less than lethal" ammunication, like the stuff from Blammo Ammo (I love Dragon's Breath) and the real thing. The dual feed system also gives you 6 + 6 in the tubes. More than sufficient for any home invasion situation. In fact, probably sufficient for any Al Qaeda encounter. If you need more than that, you need more people backing you up.

Shotguns are notoriously finicky about what they pattern well It might make a difference when you're goose hunting, but from 20 feet away in your hallway, it ain't gonna matter.

.357 even if I miss a vital target, I'm still stopping the guy (or bear or Mack truck). El Wrongo. I'll take a well placed shot with a .22 than a near miss with a .357.

No thanks. I keep my house curtains shear enough so some light always shines through. There's no way I'm turning any light on just moments after I wake up.

And are known for total throughput of one human target and killing the person behind as well. I have two .357s for SASS shoots (.38 spl loads) but wouldn't chamber .357s for home use. "Make mine a Nine"

Or my Beretta 12 ga semi closing the breech. Then again, my long guns are in the safe in the garage so it doesn't matter in a self defence situation.

Of course a direct hit with any round will be best.
But, I'll take a slightly off shot w/ .357 over a slightly off with .22.
Even if I hit his leg, his pursuit will likely end.

Depending on the state you live in, Any Other Weapon NFA will do for the short barrelled pump shotgun. Nice set of photos by the way.

i like the name "Mossberg" Mother Earth Defender...... Or "Bennelli Bunny Hugger"..... or the "Colt Hug-A-Thug" .....
Libs are idiots... I'd love to have a bunch of yellow flowers painted on a pink background with small orange butterflies...covering my 12 gauge as I wipe the blood of 3-4 home invaders off and the media and cops arrive..
...priceless

I have a Surefire on the slide of the Mossberg. The light cost more than the shotgun, and is worth every penny.

I think you are being way over concerned. If you live in a gun-hostile area, you may be crewed anyway.
However, it is wise to make sure that you gun doesn't look ridiculously "bad."
You might not want to have an Uzi with a medieval bayonet.

"Almost certainly not legal."It can be legally owned by paying the tax. I believe the category is AOW (Any Other Weapon).
"The Thunder 5, on the other hand, is legal and lets you mix 410 shot shells and 45 Long Colt."
Probably a lot of recoil and muzzle flash would make follow-up shots difficult.
