United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has been traveling through the Middle East since he first set foot in Lebanon on August 28, 2006. News outlets and the United Nations official website have been filled with delightful discussion of the Secretary Generals peace mission, which, we are told, is meant to be even handed for all sides and to fully implement the terms of UN Resolution 1701 under which the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect on the ground on August 14.
The facts might diverge from this happy public face, as is often true of Kofi Annan and the UN.
A review of over 500 news stories from various sources (AP, AFP, UPI, plus others including the Arab media) reveals the word demand used over 160 times. The predominant use of the word demand is in the context: Annan demands Israel end Blockade of Lebanon.
We could not find not one use of the word demand in the context of Annan making a demand on any nation except Israel.
One has to conclude that Annan made no demands of anyone else besides Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Olmert, even though the Secretary General also visited Jordan, Syria, Iran, Qatar, and other places.

Kofi Inanes Whirlwind Tour Of Obfuscation, Enabling, and Anti-Israeli Pronouncements
Did you have a message to send?
Yes...... Kofi is inane and a lying fool. Was I not clear enough?
;-)
I had it changed.....Just kidding :)
FReepers seem asleep this morning....we did some work here to try to sum up Kofi's trip: I guess you guys are happy enough to dismiss Kofi without any help and that is fine. Is record on fairness, especially on Israel, is a disaster.....
I know: Just trying to tease up a slow day.
Thanks for the cartoon.
The intervening years have only stengthened that first impression.
backhoe: The UN is not helping America and we pay. Will political correctness ever cease?
John
Thank you for your service in the US Navy.
And thank you for your thoughts about Kofi Annan. He and the rest of that UN crowd are very dangerous people.
What are your thoughts about getting the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US?
The only rationale I can find for not defunding and booting the UN off US soil is the old "Keep your enemies closer" line from the Godfather... and frankly, I can't go there anymore. They are enemies of the free world and democracy ( used in the generic sense ) and friends of despots, dictators, and thieves everywhere.
It started as a noble idea, but it's time to see it for what it really has become and give it a merciful ending.
An d now after a resolution for sanctions against Iran has met it's deadline, Kofe NOW sits down with Iran to come up with a way around sanctions.
This isn't just stupidity on Kofe's part it is part of his anti-American agenda.
We should have a boz on the IRS 1040:
$1.00 to UN: Yas or NO!
He sure seems to think he is somebody. What backs up that weight he is trying to throw around. Those UNIFIL troops in the turbans?
Even a dimwit (fill in the name of your choice) can see this is a stall tactic.
Yes, however although some liberals have reached the pinnacle of dimwit status, many are still just Democrats.
The U.N. is no different than the PRNK.
Being against the directive of the U.S. makes them believe that they will gain status and importance.
He has the same disease that felled Boutros Boutros-Gali before him. As Bob Dole put it at the time, "He thinks he's president of the world but unfortunately, no one elected him to that position."
