"..whereby a woman or child would take up arms against our forces..." - Webb

Mr. Webb is running as a Democrat. How surprising with this particular view of things. I suppose it would follow then, this nations policies (and Israel's, of co;urse) have resulted in the terrorists using women and children as human shields and some of those women and children strapping on explosives to kill other women and children.

Is this sort of thinking a mental condition, passed on from parent to child? Is ignorance contagious? Can these people not see the enemy and the total ruthlessness of that enemy?

When those guardians of freedom, the independent media, reinforce such ideas, it is not really surpising that some people are still out to lunch, their entire waking day.

Why does thjis article use "MR." so often when it refers to this politician (not to the otheres) and to the Marine convicted of murder?

Just wondering ... is it the "plantation mentality" so often refered to by democrats & Hillary? Mr is derived from "master" after all.

http://www.law.duke.edu/lens/publications/050698.html

A more revealing article (leans liberal) on the events with the murder charges.

NOT written by this democrat politician who all he did was to write an article that accomplished nothing but made him feel better.

He does have a valid heroic USMC history:
http://www.jameswebb.com/about.htm

James Webb grew up on the move, attending more than a dozen different schools across the U.S. and in England. He graduated from high school in Bellevue, Nebraska. First attending the University of Southern California on an NROTC academic scholarship, he left for the Naval Academy after one year. At the Naval Academy he was a four-year member of the Brigade Honor Committee, a varsity boxer, and was one of six finalists in the interviewing process for Brigade Commander during his senior year.

Graduating in l968 he chose a commission in the Marine Corps, and was one of 18 in his class of 841 to receive the Superintendent's Commendation for outstanding leadership contributions while a midshipman.

First in his class of 243 at the Marine Corps Officer's Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, he then served with the Fifth Marine Regiment in Vietnam, where as a rifle platoon and company commander in the infamous An Hoa Basin west of Danang he was awarded the Navy Cross, the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals, and two Purple Hearts. He later served as a platoon commander and as an instructor in tactics and weapons at Marine Corps Officer Candidates School, and then as a member of the Secretary of the Navy's immediate staff, before leaving the Marine Corps in l972.

"It is now generally recognized that our country's overall policy failures created a situation whereby a woman or child would take up arms against our forces in the very land we purported to be aiding,"

The man was certainly a good Marine but that does not make his political analysis of the US involvement in Viet Nam valid.

You have to note that he blame the US policy for the North Viet Namese viciousness and use of women and children in combat.

He totally avoids mention of Communist North Viet Nam’s force conscription at the point of a gun of women, children, old and young the murder of uncooperative village leaders, the theft of crops from substance farmers.

No to this man US policy is at fault for women and children carrying arms in Viet Nam.

On June 10, James Webb said, "Quite frankly, if you look at where we were before we went into Iraq and where we are now, we're certainly in a less safe world."

James Webb thinks Saddam Hussein would make us safer. He is the Michael Moore candidate for Virginia Senator.

Anytime the Democrats try to make Iraq=Vietnam, tell them this ...

http://freedomstruth.blogspot.com/2006/09/why-iraqvietnam.html

A Yahoo poster says: "Iraq is arabic for VIETNAM." And by gum, after years of resisting this analogy I finally realize he is right.

After bombing North Vietnam with "Operation Linebacker", Nixon had managed to extract a peace treaty from North Vietnam to leave South Vietnam alone, and we were able to say in 1973 that Vietnam would be not dissimilar to Korea - partitioned between a pro-US south and a communist North.

But then came Watergate. Democrats won in 1974, with huge majorities and with a platofrm that made clear they would not back south vietnam if Communist North Vietnam attacked again. within 6 months North Vietnam broked the peace treaty and inveded South Vietnam. Democrats had such control of Congress that they refused even to give South Vietnam military aid to defend themselves. No B-52s came to knock out the 100,000+ strong North Vietnamese tank divisions, and they rolled over the much weaker and smaller South Vietnamese army. In a matter of 30 days, it was over. The US had helicopters on our Saigon embassy extracting a few people who were friendly to our side.

Democrats lost Vietnam when they pulled a cut-n-run in 1974 and 1975.

Now they want to do the same in Iraq.

This is what Iraq=Vietnam means. The same script for Democrat-sponsored defeat that was played before is going to be tried again. Only this time the victor will be Al Qaeda, not the Communists. All that is required for a defeat in Iraq is a victory for Democrats in November.
