Antiwar protestors stalk Rep. Rohrabacher at his home
Orange County Register ^ | September 3, 2006 | NATALYA SHULYAKOVSKAYA

Posted on 09/04/2006 7:21:00 AM PDT by Sergeant Tim

From the Orange County Register online:

[Congressman Dana] Rohrabacher has supported the Bush administration on the war in Iraq.

Then, the protesters started shouting: "Bring them home! Now!"

As the pitch rose, the congressman ran out of his grey stucco home. He was barefoot.

"You just woke my babies!" Rohrabacher said. He and his wife, Rhonda, have 2-year-old triplets. Rohrabacher said he was on his back porch when he heard crying over a baby monitor.

"I am going to get all of you arrested if you don't leave right now."

"My son is in Iraq!" responded Tim Kahlor, 48, whose son is on his second tour of duty in Iraq until January 2007. "And he does not get much sleep!"

"Did he volunteer?" Rohrabacher yelled back. "Wait a minute, man, you are standing on my property. You are violating my rights… And you are violating my family's rights!"

Pat Alviso, a teacher whose 30-year-old Marine son will deploy in Iraq for his second tour of duty next week, said the activists tried to visit the congressman in his office last Wednesday, but were told that his calendar was full.

"Did somebody call my office ahead of time?" Rohrabacher asked.

"I met with people all last week, I talked to them about the war…. But unlike you, they were courteous, they were not arrogant." [emphasis added mine]

If you read the whole story you will see the boots are combat boots of dead soldiers. These protesters had placed the names of the soldiers on the boots. It maybe symbolism to some but Rohrabacher is not responsible for killing the soldiers. These protesters would have done better to bring the labeled boots to a local Muslim mosque and protested that they were not condemning the terrorists in Iraq. That it is the terrorists who are killing the soldiers.

The moonbats have no respect for people's privacy - or their property rights. That's why my local Congressman - yes, I live in Dana Rohrabacher's district - is fair game to them.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo! )

--Also by doing so harasses innocent neighbors which I am definitely against.--

That's a good point. Some of those neighbors might well be sympathetic to our side; bothering them wouldn't be right.

The DC Freepers did essentially the same thing to Gore when he was VP. Guess that was OK, huh?

Yeah, I remember that group standing at the gates of the Naval Observatory chanting: "Get Out of Dick Cheney's house" ... didn't know they were Freepers.

During Gore's standoff with our democratic presidential election system and his dragging the process on into October, November, December. And weird Algor shuffling outside every day for a press conference...LOL!

BTW, the VP residence is a publicly owned facility Like 1600 Pensylvania Ave which also sees its share of protesters.

Yep. They sure were.

Yeah, true. At some point it about respect though. Thats on both sides. Offices and other public appearances, sure. A residence though? Leave 'em alone at home.

I agree. Neither side should engage in harassing people at their homes. Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink, and Operation House Call apparently would argue the point.

"Neither side should engage in harassing people at their homes."

These "protesters" are going about this ALL WRONG. Think of all the money spent on boots, bumperstickers, signs, their gas, time going to Dana's house,(and other Repubs)etc.

They should simply get a video camera, and make a movie about Dana being assasinated, like the English folks did in the upcoming movie about GWB.

(...ok...sarcasm off thingee goes in this spot, along with the last little bit of control from almost wanting to go postal with some of these dim bulbs.....)

I agree that people should be left alone "at home" but if some people stage national press conferences daily in front of their homes for over a month (ala Algore during election 2000), then perhaps they are inviting a public response on site.
