Boston, MA (LifeNews.com) -- Haleigh Poutre was the victim of child abuse and was nearly killed via euthanasia when Massachusetts officials gave up on her after she entered a coma. Now Poutre, once termed "brain dead" by doctors, continues to improve and is speaking a few words, her grandmother says.
Sandra Sudyka, the girl's biological grandmother, is no longer allowed to visit her granddaughter and now says she is ready to speak to the media about Poutre's condition.
She told The Republican newspaper that she last saw Poutre on July 18 but indicated she was "doing well."
"She was bright-eyed and smiling. She is always responsive to us," Sudyka explained.
Department of Social Services had asked Sudyka not to talk with reporters about Haleigh, but since they will no longer allow her and Haleigh's biological mother, Allison Avrett, to visit the 12 year-old, she said she's going to talk to the media.
"I decided since they broke the deal, I am going to talk. People should know how well she is doing," Sudyka told the newspaper.
"They don't want people to know how she is doing after they wanted to pull the plug," Sudyka said.
DSS spokeswoman Denise Monteiro declined an interview with The Republican but said that the visiting privileges have been suspended, not terminated.
Haleigh first began speaking in June, her grandmother told the newspaper.
"I was saying to her 'I love you,' and she was trying to say 'love' and it came out as a vibration...'ove,'" Sudyka said.
Sudyka, who is working with an attorney to adopt the girl, said she has said hello, responds to comments and questions, speaks nonverbally and is able to write her name. Haleigh can't walk and is confined to a wheelchair.
Avrett, Poutre's biological mother, lost custody of her daughter after physically abusing her. Poutre was put into a foster home where her adoptive parents also abused her. Her adopted mother committed suicide after abusing Poutre so much she had to be hospitalized.
DSS took Poutre into custody and when she appeared to slip into a coma, the agency asked the state Supreme Court for permission to take her life. That's when Poutre began responding.
Poutre has been receiving physical, speech and occupational therapy since January 26 at Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton.
Gov. Mitt Romney appointed a commission to look into how the state failed to properly handle the girl's case.
Btw, there's been a rash of homeless people being beaten to death there. They suspect he's just the latest victim. The attitude toward the most vulnerable in our society is at an all-time low. What is wrong with these people?
Two reasons:
1. Organ donations. There is enormous pressure coming from doctors, hospitals, and other interest groups who stand to gain prestige and $$$ in the hugely profitable body part transplant industry.
2. A debased culture that no longer values life. Scratch a euthanasiast and you will find a "pro-choicer" underneath.
Does the 2nd petition require a donation? I was good to go until I got to that window. We cannot solicit donations here at FR but I think it's acceptable for me to ask if we can sign the 2nd petition without paying to do so.

Of course, not thinking that way, I didn't think of that. It appalls me that people are so interested in money that all they can think of a dying person in terms of is what they can harvest from them to make money and how fast they can do it; not even waiting till the body's cold. It's morbid and inhuman.
I think if you read some of Michelle Malkin's early reporting on Haleigh, she may have mentioned how Haleigh ended up with the aunt instead of the mom.
In Florida medical and legal people call murder a medical decision. That's why I called Florida The Starvation State.
It was probably more costly to have the long arm of the law, swat teams, all the judges, Mikey's experts and trial lawyers, media, the Congress, The White House, Tallahassee, DCF, ACHA, Charlie Crist, death lobby, pagans, moonbats, atheists of Florida, Joe Redner friend of Judge Whittemore, the ACLU, participate in the destruction of the life of Terri Schiavo than it would have cost to give the innocent woman her life and liberty!
They were going to pass Haleigh's vital organs around too but calls to action saved her life.
If they wait until the body is cold, the organs are dead. ?

I like Terri's Legacy List because the entire world knows of Terri. She was just plain murdered but anyone who's been here at FR knows that Terri's freepers cover euthanasia and pro-life topics too. The death cult in Amerika is real. Would we have so much material every day if it was just our imagination? Absolutely not!
I was standing behind Terri's mom when she went on camera to ask Jeb Bush to get Terri an ice chip, to let her give Terri just a ice chip because Terri's lips were cracking. I guess Jeb wasn't watching tv that afternoon.
I know. I just reminds me of people who start arguing over the inheritance the minute someone dies also.
The issue appears to be that they are so eager to declare someone dead just to harvest their organs, that they could be doing it from someone who still has a life ahead of them. IOW, they killed the person just for the organs, not giving them a chance to recover. Life has become too devalued.
I just closed the window that askes for money. I checked back later and my "sig" was there.
It's for reasons like this that family has to ok "pulling the plug" and the physician in charge of transplanting is different from the one responsible for the patient's care.
