You are not normal.

Nothing wrong with you; just that what you did and do is not the norm.

Sometimes being normal is not a great thing!

Then yours is the rare exception and I dare say well less than one out of one hundred US mothers.

...bad for the company,...

If the company (law firm) thought it was bad for them, they wouldn't have agreed to this arrangement.

Yep.

God tells us to be fruitful and multiply, but many are being fruitful for themselves instead.

Some women are more predisposed to being moms than others. Personally I'm not real comfortable around little kids, and never have been. I absolutely HATED babysitting as a teenager.

Thank you Gabz. If only these women knew their place all would be right with the world!

I am June Cleaver.

I stay at home with my 3 kids and homeschool them. I keep the house as clean as I possibly can and cook almost every day of the month. I don't send my kids off to school in the Fall and I don't get vacations. It's extremely hard some days and requires a lot of self-sacrifice.

I realize it's not for all women. It's a shame that it is not. I'm like some others here...I can't stand reading stories like this. In her case, it seems like a purely selfish move. She shouldn't have had children. Those poor babies!

"I know if I were home with my kids every day I'd be insane, and if I were here every day I would not be happy," the 39-year old said of her part-time schedule. "It's a good situation for me."

Wow, ain't she lucky! Guess the phrase, “you can't have it both ways” isn't applicable here, lol.

It's extremely hard some days and requires a lot of self-sacrifice -discipline.

It is only a sacrifice if you would really rather be doing something else.

You are right. Discipline is a better choice of wording here. My husband is the writer in our family! However, I still see it as a sacrifice, too. There are some things I wish I could HAVE (not do) but would never try to work outside the home at the expense of my children to have them. We live on one salary and give as much as we can to the kids in some form or another. I'm doing exactly what I was put on Earth to do...raise my kids to know, love and serve the Lord!

You certainly are in the minority and I'm sure your kids will benefit.

Even when I grew up before widespread working mothers, few were June Cleaver. They weren't exactly Rosanne either but the Cleavers still represent an ideal that was extremely rarely seen in real life.
