Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is the "best" candidate in the 2008 race for Israel, a panel of eight Israeli experts assembled by Haaretz has determined.

Giuliani is followed by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Arizona Senator John McCain and New York Senator Hillary Clinton. Ranking bottom of the list is Illinois Senator Barack Obama.

I didn't realize he was eligible to run. Doesn't Israel have a citizenship requirement?

Discussion is one thing ... trying to influence our political process is quite another. See communist China and Aztlanist Mexico for other examples.

Somehow I have the feeling ... Feelings, wo-o-o feelings, wo-o-o, feelings ....

Bleh. Your "feelings" are worthless.

"I'll still be voting with America's best interests in mind."
I'm with you on that one; more, I'd say that such polls and rankings are best kept for internal use; releasing or posting them in the open is unseemly and can get counterproductive.

Those all powerful Jews in a panel in Israel are attempting to influence little old you. We need to put a mussle on them.

but until then, I know the new Jewish mind penetrating ray beam is all powerful but I heard if you wipe mustard on your head it doesn't get through.

Feeling was good, do you do Muskrat Love?

ROFL!!!!!

You're pretty good at that ... you have a future as a commedian. BTW, did I tell you about the Star-of-David shaped crop circles out back?

Even the space aliens are JOOOOOOOish. AAAAAAAaaahhhhhhhhhhhgggggghhhh!!!!

Seriously ... your own posts on this thread indicate a problem ... "Giuliani is good", you say. Good for whom? I think he would be horrible for the United States ... he favours gun control, abortion, special privileges for homosexuals ...

This is not about an anti-Jewish sentiment. We don't pay attention when Europeans are polled on who they'd want as our President. In fact, we'd prefer them to mind their own affairs, whether they be allies or no. It's up to American citizens--and American citizens only--to decide what is best for America first. If our allies are helped in the process, good for them.

First of all this sounds like left wingers making the decision on who is good for Israel. These idiots might consider abortion in the US good for Israel. Second it is time for the Israelis to spend more time doing what is good for Israel and less time worrying whether the American President is a friend of Israel.

"Giuliani is good", you say. Good for whom

A clue should be the topic of this thread.

Here is discussed which candidate would be best for Israel from an Israeli prospective.

If you ever watched C-Span, you would frequently see a panel of Americans discussing the goings on in various Nations.

I do acknowledge that if someone is suffering from paranoia vis a vis Jews, the idea of an ISRAELI newspaper convening a panel of ISRAELIS, discussing American politics would get that paranoid person all hot and bothered. Even when the panel obviously is clueless.

I'm sure you will agree with me that the mistake here is that someone goofed and published the panel's findings in a newspaper when it was supposed to stay within the secret minutes of the last meeting of the Elders of Zion.

They give Hillary kudos for wanting to move the embassy. That is a wet dream (moving the embassy, not her thighness).

If you want a clue into your inner subconscious feelings about Jews/Israel think of your reaction to this piece.

How dare they discuss which candidate is best for Israel? Is that what you are thinking? Why?

Don't we discuss which candidate of a foreign country is best for the US? Did we discuss the last election in Italy? Who did we cheer for in Mexico? How did we feel about Spain whose election would reverse support for the US? On and on.

Get the picture?

So you consider a candidate for office in the United States to be "good" based on what he would do for a foreign country, not based on what he would do for the United States. If you were a citizen of that foreign country, that would be undestandable, though I would also invite you to refain from imitating the Communists in China or the Aztlanists in Mexico.

I think this one's a bit nicer.

"I believe these folks are candidates for President of the United States. I don't appreciate foreign countries meddling in our electoral politics. I'm interested in what candidate is best for the USA, not some foreign country."

The Israelis are only talking about it among themselves. British people launched a campaign to write letters to Clark County, Ohio residents during the 2004 election to rig it for Kerry.

Somebody on this forum posted it here ... you might think they were trying to drum up support for Rino Giuliani or something ...

British people launched a campaign to write letters to Clark County,

Which was reprehensible, and I objected to it then. Thanks for the example.

Ha'aretz is leftist (someone at FR - I forget who, called Ha'aretz the NY Times of Israel), so any panel the assembled or queried would be suspect, IMO.

"Somebody on this forum posted it here ... you might think they were trying to drum up support for Rino Giuliani or something ..."

Yes, someone did, and that's possible. BTW, even though I'm not Jewish, I can tell you that most Orthodox rabbis would not support Giuliani over a more morally conservative and pro-Israel prospect. That...from the comments of some of them.

Haaretz is often not supportive of Israel. "A panel of eight Israeli experts assembled by Haaretz" might prefer Vespasian for the presidency, if he were alive, available and good at propagandizing.

Brilliant observation.

Of course it doesn't explain that I, a Giuliani supporter, above wrote that another potential candidate would be more pro Israel.

It also doesn't take into account that not everyone is pro-Israel, (I know, hard to believe especially for you,) and the article also tells one who to vote for if you are looking for someone less friendly to Israel.

But you figured out that this was posted to push Giuliani- because articles from Haaretz, and Israel, are very rare on FR- and I'm sure the numerous Steve Irwin stories are posted to promote Australian adventure tourism.

So just to be sure we understand your problems they are, one, that Israelis are discussing how US politics may affect them, and two, that the fact of such is brought to the attention of Freepers who may be interested. Not you of course who was forced to read this thread.

It's a conspiracy. No question.

More like the Village Voice- strike that- Pravda, if Pravda was an American published paper during the Cold War.

Haaretz is hardly influential in Israel compared to other papers but it is very Leftist, has an English version, and therefore gives the foreign, English speaking, Leftist journalists based in Israel, a view that they like and can adopt.

If you don't think it's a bit unseemly to use foreign (whether Chinese, Mexican, British, Israeli, or other) public opinion to influence USA elections ... it's a free country. You have the right to think that. And I have the right to condemn it as inappropriate and reprehensible.

It's a conspiracy.

Sorry, I could only find the two "Star of David" crop circles. I'm a bit surprised at that; it's a fairly obvious geometric shape, easily inscribed in a circle. Maybe the crop-circle makers aren't JOOOOOOOOOOOish after all. They're Anti-Semites!!!! That's it! It IS a conspiracy ...
