Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Kennedy is calling it a spin war
Seems the Kennedy-Reid bill wants the President to admit there is a civil war in Iraq
Wants the Sec of State to submit more reports about Iraq
I predict that the Kennedy amendment will not pass. It may be the most ridiculous thing I have heard in some time.
Somebody tell him the Drinks are half off at Bullfeathers, maybe he will leave.
Oh and I've lost count on how many times Kennedy mentioned the words "Civil War"

BUT, he is giving quotes of people that have said "may end up in civil war"..."a civil war is possible"...sounds like he is making Bush's points to me.

He just had his aides read it...and pick out any quotes that MIGHT help them.
Kennedy just BLASTED Stevens...and said the 9/11 Commission said there WAS no al-Queda in Iraq...which is a LIE...

I heard that the transplant was successful....don't know if they have a certain time for a "clean bill of health" though..
Durbin appears to be unaware that soldiers in previous wars were also injured by bombs and landmines and thinks they only got injured from being shot. Our soldiers are now living instead of dying of these injuries because of the excellence of their treatment right from the beginning. In previous wars, they would not have lived. Does he ever get a clue how dumb he sounds. And why does he want to help out all of these Hitlers and Pol Pots anyway?
